I am a writer. I love being able to create my own stories about whatever comes to mind. I like making stories about mysteries and famous wars. I like to watch movies with action in them and then going back and writing about the movie but with my own twist to the story. I started to do this after my first discovery of a mystery book called The Hardy Boys, by Franklin W. Dixon.
Growing up, before I knew how to read, I would enjoy learning about new things and figuring out things on my own. I would try to do things that would be impossible for a little kid to do, by themselve. For example, one day I was playing around my house and noticed a very large wooden looking bookshelf at the other end of the hallway on the second floor of my house. Somehow I had never noticed it until then, I then walked closer to it and noticed it was almost touching the ceiling. I then saw a bunch of books on each shelf, which was millions to me, I looked around and saw that there were big and small books. I couldn't read the titles of the books, so i just looked at the covers of them. I also looked at the pictures inside, if there were any inside. He took the book and read the title “The Hardy Boys: The Tower Treasure.” I now knew what the book was called and i wanted to learn more about it. Then after thinking about that for a little a bit, I asked my dad if he could read it to me. He responded with a “yes” and said that we could start reading night before bed. He also said that he could read it to me and my older brothers, Adam and Ryan. They were old enough at the time to read, but they still liked to be read to. After he told me this I got super excited and couldn't wait for bedtime. I remember looking through the book and also looking at the clock watching the time

When I would take a shower she would be sitting outside the shower and reading in her own little language. Writing was never my favorite thing when I was little.…

One of the very first memories I had as a child was lying in bed at night and listening to my mom read stories to me. I would always have my pajamas lying in my bunk bed in my blue paint colored room. Every night before bed I would curl up next to her in bed and pick several books for her to read. As I got older, I would pick bigger, harder, and longer books to read.…

When I was a child, most of my time was spent on the computer. I wasn’t very interested with the physical computer, rather I was interested in everything the computer could do. It was more fun for me to tinker with the settings than to play games. As I got older in elementary school, I discovered website and game building sites. I built sites on my computer for everything from a fake business that sold toys to a page to host all the pictures from my semi-annual Barbie fashion shows.…

Reading was something I was practically raised on as a child. My dad made sure that my younger sister and I were read to every single night before he tucked us in, passing down a tradition that he believed had aided in shaping his own childhood. I distinctly remember my simple mind roaming along in the lands of Narnia and Middle Earth as such books instilled in me a restless sense of adventure and a longing to learn. This longing drove me to read more and more on my own, all the while my father continued to read to me at a higher and more complex level, that at the time seemed unattainable. Yet books to me were journies completely separate from my own world and I could never seem to envision them as anything more than a source of entertainment.…

He said that me and him were sitting in a lobby area, and there was this vending machine filled with drinks. I hopped down from my chair, and walked over to it, just kind of staring at it. My father just watched closely, wondering what I might do next. He told me that I ended it up saying, "P-U-S-H...…

Was there ever a time you didn’t like to do something, but as you got older you started to love it more than you did as a child? When I was younger, I never liked to read, but now as I have gotten older, I read more and more different kinds of books and novels. My mother put my sister and me into a reading program in elementary school because our reading levels were lower than they should be. There were no criteria so we read books that were interesting to us, like the Given Tree by Shel Silverstein and Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White. When we finished reading them we would go around and talk about the book we read.…

When I was young I was never the best at reading even though my parents owned many books and magazines that they read on a daily basis. My mother enjoyed reading her gossip magazines that she would receive in the mail once a month and my father had a whole bookshelf full of history books. My parents would always encourage me to read the books I would check out at the school library to improve my reading and writing but that advice usually went in through one ear and out the other. The only books I would really attempt to read had to be humorous or horrifying, my favorites were the Goosebumps collection. I loved reading these books alone in my room where I couldn’t be sidetracked by all the commotion that went on in my house.…
