Personal Narrative: The Greek Orthodox Religion

Decent Essays
I enjoyed this visit because I love learning about the lifestyles of other cultures. I also like to learn about other religions and how they compare to Christianity. It was an amazing experience, and I know that I will do it again next year just for fun. I had an awesome time hanging out with my friends and family while learning new things. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the festival, and my favorite part was the jewelry. The Greek food was also delicious, and I cannot wait to eat more. The Greek Orthodox religion is also very interesting, and I enjoyed learning about all of it. This was a great trip, and I cannot wait to go back next

    - What! - The Greek Orthodox God was very angry. A dozen of ancient Greek gods were arguing again about versions of their golden apple story, while numerous Sumerian, Assyrian and Babylonian gods were taking sides. They lost their tribes somewhere in the history, so he was easier to them, but, you can't be overly diplomatic when they wake you up in the middle of the dream... Amon Ra was in a polite discussion with the Catholic God about their approaches on later versions of the apple story, while the Anglican one was having his drink alone, usual Calvados; his approach to the apple issue.…

The official religion of Greece is Greek Orthodox with 98% of the population Greek Orthodox, 1.3% Muslim and 0.7% other. -History of Religion: Greek religion encompassed an aray of Gods such as Zeus (the leader of all Gods), Athena, Apollo, Hermes, Hera, Aphrodite, and Hades. They were all believed to have lived on Mount Olympus. In Greek mythology, literature and art were given to the gods along with human bodies and characters - both good and bad - and just as ordinary men and women, they married, had children, fought, and in the stories of Greek mythology they directly intervened in human affairs. These traditions were first recounted only orally as there was no sacred text in Greek religion and later, attempts were made to put in writing…

I am the brilliant, illustrious Shadis; I reside in a comfortable forest clearing on the island of Titus. Numerous men flock from each and every town around to gaze at my luxurious charcoal black hair. Men tend to instantly fall in love with yours truly once they take a long solemn stare into my icy indigo blue eyes. Many think that my beauty compares to that of a goddess but I am not as such.…

Breaking Stereotypes One Step At a Time Greek life contributes a lot to the average college community. Whether it being, giving student’s connections, philanthropy, or providing a fun atmosphere for several stressed college students. The affect it has on the students individually is huge too. Fraternity’s and sorority’s push each member to reach outside their comfort zone, and to strive for excellence in academics, community involvement, and personal development. “Greeks all speak a “language” that they learn in the process of becoming part of their fraternity/sorority.…

Many people don’t know what they want to be when they “grow up”, as for my mother she didn’t know what type of religion she wanted to be in when she “grew up”. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

Working on the Greek mask project was difficult because I wasn't sure how to begin and due to my lack of artistic talent. I was able to overcome my initial difficulties by looking at masks on Pinterest for inspiration. After, looking around I opted to go with the classic Greek "tragedy" mask and just add my own flare to it. The materials I used to create my mask were cardboard, paper, makeup, and leaves. To begin my creation I took a piece of cardboard and cut out the shape of a mask and two large eyes using a knife.…

As an Orthodox Jew, religion plays a central role in my life. I attended a private Jewish high school, where much of my day was devoted to religious studies. While I learned about many different aspects of Judaism, my favorite subject was Talmud. Even though the Talmud has little practical relevance to modern life, or even contemporary Jewish law, I still found it to be a fascinating subject. On its surface Talmud may not seem like an engaging subject.…
