Personal Narrative: The Good Life

Improved Essays
I think in life we all look back and think to ourselves, did I do or say the right thing in that situation? I believe life is full of choices and everyone makes some mistakes, and that’s okay. We are all human and our lives won’t end simply because we screw up a few times. In life, many people are looking for happiness, power, money, and everything else in between. I am trying to improve myself every day, appreciate the little things, work through the hard times, and I believe that will allow me to have “the good life.” One of the ways I’m trying to improve myself is working my hardest. I might be late getting started but I am going to power through and whatever the task will be completed to the best I can do at that time. I’m trying to put others before me because it makes me feel like I’m being a better person. For me it is as simple as picking up the freshmen who can’t drive to school or unloading hay for an …show more content…
I have only heard this how many hundreds of times and have grown to accept it. I have had to deal with my own hardships such as having four sinus surgeries and getting infusions every three weeks. Some people look at that and say that’s terrible and I tell them no its not. There are people trying to beat cancer and other illnesses and losing that battle, that’s terrible. I will tell you though if everything is always good in your life, you won’t truly appreciate everything and in my book, you won’t have “the good life.” All in all, I believe having “the good life” is trying to improve yourself, appreciate the little things, and work through the tough times. If you aren’t trying to do any of these in some form or another, you aren’t truly living. “The good life” is what you make of it and everybody has their own thoughts but I believe that it is all about how you view things. So, try to view things in the best way possible. Finally, if you aren’t impacting other peoples’ lives how have you made your life

Life is simply perspective. Some say that you have your whole life to do something, while others will argue that life is short and you should enjoy it to the full extent of it’s worth. You can look at something as exquisite, or atrocious. It doesn’t change what it is, but it changes your reaction to it. No matter how sure you are about the morality, someone else could view it differently.…

My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

Survival, by definition, means “the state or fact of continuing to live”, but personally, life is not all about surviving. What is life without experience? Day to day, people face harsh living conditions- children in Africa are dropping from starvation, Syrians seek refuge from a horrible war, and homeless people in cities need to provide for themselves and families. On a more serious note, there are even worse tales of survival and making it out alive from the past, especially in times of prejudice and warfare. One of the worst cases in history of prejudice, in our case against Jews, and warfare is World War II.…

The reason I stand where I am today can only be thanks to the many exemplary role models and mentors that I had throughout my high school experience. Each one of these amazing people helped me shape my future in inexplicable ways, if it had not been for their constant eye-opening and thoughtful remarks I would have never left Houston to study in Greencastle, Indiana. Now that I am here, I can't help but look back and say a million thanks to the people who encouraged me and inspired me to become the best that I could be, not only through words but by showing me I could do what I set my mind to. This is the reason I have promised myself that I will be that role model and inspiration for the kids behind me. I feel that being an Advisor for Young…

Two Roads of Great Opportunity People come face to face with decisions every day. Some of these decisions are simplistic, like which shoes to wear or how to fashion one’s hair. On the other hand, some decisions seem impossible to make. In the year of 2018, I was faced with one of those impossible decisions of where I should go to college. Both the colleges had great opportunities waiting for me and I felt much like the traveler in The Road not Taken by Robert Frost.…

I was doing my usual speed of 60 on all the roads so i could make it home in my normal 20 minutes when it was a typical 35 minute drive. I believe that if you are content and you have the things you need along with your family then life is good. When we look into the philosophical side of things I feel that my idea of the good life is similar. One of the philosophers that contributed to the argument of the good life and how to achieve it is Aristotle. According to his theory of the good life it is a life in which a person flourishes and that individuals live well. He says that the good life is a happy life, and not one such as having happy times but truly having a fulfilled life.…

Relationships are complicated, on one side they are the best thing to have while sometimes it may be the worst thing to have. When I view life, I see it as mix up of good things and bad things, much like everyone has. Most people like myself would rather have “good” relationships with the people they interact with for many reasons. I favor positive relationships over negative ones because they simply cause no problems in my view and it just seems like the better thing to yearn for. When I have bad relationships, I view them as a bad thing that I would not like to have and just quit them.…
