Personal Narrative: The Gang Of Misfits

The Gang of Misfits Red, all I see is red. Flashes of punches, crowds of people, and sounds of cheering meet my eyes, and anger fills my every being. I have become so sick and tired of this place, some may call it high school, but I call it prison with a view. The gang of misfits weren’t always the gang of misfits, we used to all be alone until today because today is the day I fought for my freedom. Let’s take this story back to the start of freshman year, not too long ago, but feels long enough. Shawn Summers is my name, and this is the story that started the beginning of the gang of misfits, or at least my part. Every school has their own system for their people, at this one there were the normal kids that no one really noticed outside of their own groups, the “losers” that always get picked on I fit in this category, and then there were the J’s. They were called the J’s because every one of their names began with a J, they are Justin, Jordan, Jessie, and Jennifer, leaders of the sophomore and junior class. I guess my being a freshman provided them open season on any and every torment that a …show more content…
“So are we going to do this or what?” I asked mustering up all the confidence I had left when out of nowhere I am punched from the side. Jordan had broken away from the pack and punched me right in the side of my face, and that is when it all turned. I filled with anger from everything that they have done to me since the beginning of freshman year, it had all built up to this moment just to explode like a volcano. I saw red and was throwing punches like my life depended on it, it felt so good to be on the better end of things. I needed to let out this rage that I had just pushed down letting these people walk all over me. I was so focused on this task I didn’t notice that I was pummeling these two guys, enough to where people had to pull me

In Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by David Lubar, the scene I choose for the rewrite in another character’s point of view is the one when Vernon attacks Scott from behind while Kyle and Kelly watched. This was on page 244. I choose this scene because there is so much action and I feel I can write about this scene because so much occured. The original scene is told from Scott’s perspective. Now, the perspective I will be writing it in is Vernon’s; so, we will get his perspective.…

Back in the gang I was fourteen years old when I saw the perfect image and decided to back out. I was about to break into the Jamesons house. Back in the rich neighborhood, back in the gang, back before everything changed. We rode up to Fall Creek, the neighborhood. After driving through the big, confusing, dark neighborhood at night we found a house with a black plaque that said, ‘Welcome to the Jameson’s’ Jacob, Tyler, Ra’shawn, Andrew, and I walked to the back of the gray house.…

Now, our journey takes us into the heart of the gathering. Suited up with all necessary camping gear and clown face paint, I blended in with the Juggalos and proceeded to what the Juggalos called, “the carnie- grounds.” Walking down into a valley filled with nearly 8,000 Juggalos, there was no turning back. Merchants were selling hatchets and katana weaponry near the entry gates and next to them where Juggalos selling assorted liquor. Police officers were scattered through the grounds, but did not seem concerned about any of this.…

Rudy hated to go home with his left ear bleeding and his right eye almost closed. Once again, he had another dreadful day at school. It all started when he walked in to school twenty minutes late, wearing his extra short pants and the ugliest sweater he owns. “Today is going to be a good day, but I hope I don’t get a detention for being late,” he thought as he shuffled inside quickly. Just as Rudy got to his locker, the rude eighth graders shoved him inside.…

Pain shot through the left side of my head caused by my skull being banged into the locker. A groan escaped my throat; thoughts raced around my head somehow faster than my heart beating rapidly in my chest. I never thought I would be in such a situation. I was yanked from the locker, my body being slammed back into the cold metal again, this time my back was against it. I opened my eyes, in my peripheral vision was a boy with the build of a 30-year-old weightlifter towering above my small frame.…

Have you ever heard the term home is where the heart is? In the summer after my freshman year, I found this to be true. I encountered experiences that illuminated the value of time spent with family and how this creates a sense of home. My family and a few members of my congregation went on a mission trip to Duluth and Superior. We did a variety of things such as helping people in hunger stricken areas, working and arranging clothes in a woman’s shelter, and spending time with kids at Superior’s Boy’s…

One of the challenges I’ve faced that was tough on me going through the tiers of the educational system was dealing with bullying that either happened to me or my friends while we either walked home, rode our bikes home, ate lunch, or simply got pushed around by those bigger than us while in school. The worst one to face was the most ironic as well, Brendan was the smallest bully we’ve encountered, but also our biggest problem as well. One day while we were simply walking our bikes home until we got to the place where we could ride on them, Brendan stopped us from walking along one day with his group of seven or eight more friends than we had. I remember the feeling of sheer fear when we saw him from all of the intense drama of just dealing…

It was a pleasant spring morning at Challenger School. A calm breeze blew, and the sun shone brightly upon the Earth. Students ran out of the classrooms at top speed as soon as the bell for recess had rung, but I sighed heavily as I walked towards the playground with a heavy heart, my mind deep in though, my body heaving. I was in shock at the recent turn of events, and I was so angry that I felt like leaving my school forever. My friends and I would, at this time, have been playing tag in the playground, but now I not only had no hope for this, I had no idea of what else to do during my recess for the rest of the year.…
