The Future The frequent question asked by students is: “What would my future be like?” Well, today's society has become more challenging as the years pass, and “education is becoming the number one passport to the future”, as Malcolm X once said. The speech that Barack Obama and Harry Kim made about education being important for the future and the countless lectures that Mr. Thoma drilled into my head had me feeling the elation of my entire life. I feel the perseverance to not let my community and my family fall in disappointment. Education is an important knowledge to gain, so therefore, in this paper, I will be talking about the goals I made in order to achieve a better future, such as passing high school, going to college, and having …show more content…

But overall, I must attend school and stay attentive every day because even missing one day of school could mean that I missed important activities and lectures, and not being attentive means that I may not know what to do on particular activities, meaning that my lack of participation can affect my …show more content…
By doing so, I could help society walk a path towards a bright future, there are many challenges to overcome in the real world, so I would do the best I can in order to pursue that goal. When one tries to pursue an education with the only goal to create a better future for themselves, they miss out on the other aspects education has to offer. Sure, they will still glean some of the benefits unknowingly, but overall, they will not make as much progress as a person. Davis shows the importance of all the other aspects of education by calculating and comparing hours in a week. He finds that on average, a person will only spend 43.5 hours in a week working while they have 70.6 other non-sleeping hours a week (Davis 29). These numbers show that the career, the destiny people are preparing for themselves, accounts for less than half of an average person’s life.…

When I grow up, I want to change the world! Changing the world one day would make me feel really good. Three ways I would change the world are: make sure everyone has a shelter to live in; help more lost, sick, and hurt animals, and make sure no one is hungry. I would like to help homeless people have a nice place to stay. When I’m driving downtown I see a lot of homeless people on the streets; dirty, and sad.…

The norm may not always be the right way to go. I no longer want to be a part of a popular or important group of people, if I feel that what the group is doing or believes in is wrong, even if it means I'm not a part of the norm. I am not afraid to stand out on my own. I have challenged this belief for many years. When I was in elementary school, I was bullied by a group of girls that I hung with, looked up to and idolized.…

I remember the day when I had the thought that would from that day on never fail to amaze me. I remember walking down Michigan Avenue in Chicago with the smell of Garrett Popcorn and sewage roaming the air. I remember the massive amount of tourists, including myself, stopping every five feet to take pictures of the beautiful sights of the city. I remember thinking to myself, “Why can’t these people learn how to walk in a polite and organized fashion?”…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude.
