Personal Narrative: The Ethiopian Liberation Front

have you ever been lied and end up in a bad situation? it was may 2005 I was a high school student in Ethiopia. it was election time. four parties were running for the majority sit in the parliament. among those parties two of them are the most competitive once. the first one was "The joint" party, and the second one was the current ruling party " Ethiopian liberation front". all the people including me was so eager to know the result. next day we heard the news that the "Ethiopian liberation front" won the election. A Majority of the people didn't accept the result. people were protesting everywhere in the country.To stop people from protesting, the government forced schools, government offices, and shops to stay open. since the school was not closed, I was preparing to go to school, but my mother asked me not to go to school. I lied to her. I told her that I had an exam that day. Even though she didn't like it, she agreed. …show more content…
I jumped into the crowd and joined them. After a few minutes, we all surrounded by the police, and they started to beat each and every one of us. one of the police commanders said "everybody on your knees" and we all are in our knees for about two hours. later that day when they finally sent us home, I was barely walking. My mom started to cry when she saw all bruises, and she took me to the hospital I was at the hospital for three days. I felt so bad to see my mom spend that much money for medical expenses. if I lesson to her this will never happen. now I learn my lesson the hard way.since then I never lie to my
