Growing up, my mother worked two jobs: a secretary during the day and cleaning medical facilities at night. My dad wasn't always home because he worked long hours as well in the hotel industry. At the age of six or seven I would consider myself more enlightened than the average kid and because of that I knew why they had to work so much. They worked so hard so I could have everything I needed even if it meant giving up time for themselves. As I grew older the topic of college came up more often. Not necessarily the part about where I would go or what I would major in, but how we would pay for it. The demands of life made me realize that my parents could still give me everything I needed, but college was not considered one of those necessities
