The Thrill in the Kill…….And What it Does After Elham I. 8-1 I’m a deadbeat. There is no way to sugarcoat it (and frankly, I don’t want to). Being as profound and logical as I am, I decided to do something aside from my part-job at a convenience store: rob a bank. I was so embarrassed, and he was the only one who offered to help me. The memory of it is still tattooed onto my brain. I swear it was that moment 3 years ago that I first fell for him.…

My footsteps echoed in the empty halls. I gravitated toward the forlorn cry of my raven that sounded in the main hall where a dim, green glow clawed its way out of the doorway. As I made my way up to my throne, the black marble floors gleamed under my bare feet; I favored the raw feel of the ice-cold floors beneath my heels to remind me that pain comes when you are unprotected – a lesson that I learned ten years ago. Oh, but it seemed so long ago, when I was just a naïve girl in the Meadows of Anarelle. I had spent day after day amongst the fields full of jewels and flowers that glistened in the effervescent sunshine, and I had spent many nights underneath the gems in the sky in fields that seemed to stretch on ad infinitum.…

“We need you to investigate a possible murder” is what I heard on my radio a few hours into the first day on the my new job as a police officer. I sat there frozen in my seat, and probably could have stayed like that for hours if the person on the other side didn't ask “are you there, please respond”. I told them I'd go check it out and began to drive over to the address they gave me. I was so surprised to hear this because I didn't think in such a quiet neighborhood, I'd get involved in something so serious on the first day. On my way over to the house I was beginning to worry about what I'd say and do and began running through everything they taught me at the academy.…
