Personal Narrative: The Day I Drive

I am the youngest of my friends so the first day I was eligible for my permit, I went. I remember I was so excited to drive. The morning of my birthday my mom and I went to the Brockton registry at 8:30 because it opened at 9. It was pouring rain but we waited in line outside anyways. I was determined to get my permit so I could drive as soon as possible. I was shaking I was so nervous but thankfully I passes. After two weeks of having my permit, we were going to a barbecue in Reeding. My mom and her college friends have an annual barbecue every year. My mom thought it would be a good idea to have me drive my whole family there. My mom was in the front seat next to me and my dad and brothers were in the back seat. I wasn't scared but the rest of my family was. You could feel the anxiety in the air. To get to Reeding, you have to take the mass pike. The mass pike is very busy and it is confusing to navigate, especially as a new driver, with all the signs and break offs to new routes. It was a Thursday night and I was driving home from physical therapy. I have to go to physical therapy for my headaches. My head always hurts after because of the manual work on my neck and head. So I was in pain and I got distracted for a second. I looked up and had to slam on my breaks, but I still hit her bumper. It was poring rain and my car slide of the road after I hit the car. I'm glad I didn't hit anything else. It was scary but the situation turned out okay. In conclusion, driving is very exciting and adventurous when you first start but you should always remember to be alert and think safe above all. Looking back on my experiences as a new driver has taught me how dangerous driving can be and how much of a privilege it is. I am thankful to have my license and a car but, as an experienced driver, I now know how to be more cautious on the
