Personal Narrative: The Creede

I walk back to our bench after warm ups. My heart is racing as I look at the crowd, it seems like the stands are packed. I sit down as my fellow teammates form a tunnel for the starters to run through. Coach C. begins to list off the Creede starters. After he names the last Creede starter he announces, “Now put your hand together for your home Pirates!” the crowd breaks out in a mass hysteria. After this he says, “Freshman, number 12, Owen Voll!” Owen jolts up and sprints through the tunnel. The next thing Coach C. says is, “Freshman, number 23, Kurt Voll!” I jump up faster than a lighting bolt and run through the tunnel. I peel around the end of the tunnel and move towards the refs. The crowds seems so thunderous at this moment. I start to …show more content…
After the buzzer sounds the end of the first quarter I look up to the scoreboard as I make my way back to our bench. The score is 9 us and 13 Creede. I sit down on the bench and Brown begins to talk to us, “We need to rebound better! Other than that you’re playing good.” After Brown’s speech we make our way back to the floor. I go to Alex and tell him that the defence is over playing me and to watch for the back door cut. With about 5 minutes left in the half we run down the court after a defensive stop. Alex barks out “41! 41!” I notice my defender is overplaying me like I told Alex. I look at Alex and give him the look. He knows what i’m doing. I set my defender up with a jab step, he bites on it, I jolt into the paint where a smooth bounce pass from Alex is waiting. Without hesitation I receive the pass and take two steps and go for the right handed layup. Off the glass the ball falls in the hoop, the crowd erupts into cheer. I get a true feeling of amazement. I then run up the floor and point at Alex and he points back like the way Shaquille O’Neal did when got a smooth pass from Kobe Bryant. After a few more intense positions the end of the first half is here. I look up to the scoreboard and it reads Cotopaxi 24, Creede 28. We make our way to the locker room. There Brown tells us that we’re right there, we just need to keep our …show more content…

Eight-eighty-seven seventy-one,” Coach Morris said to me. “Look for the outside receivers and tell them to get out of bounds to stop the clock. If they don’t get out of bounds, hurry to the line and spike the ball!” After hearing those instructions from coach I trotted onto the field with 1:22 left in the Decorah football game. Since our defense held them on 4 straight downs we had a second chance and we were going to take advantage of it.…

Five years in a row, undefeated each season, had the best team in the league. It was just another Sunday afternoon, my team and I were prepared for another championship game. Going into the games we held our heads high, knowing we were the defending champs for five years straight, never losing a game, and absolutely destroying our opponents by large margins of victory. It was the Huskies vs. the Heat, you could say they were our rivals, but we knew that they couldn’t handle the competition we competed at. Every game we played against them, we blew them out, enjoying the sweet taste of victory.…

Growing up in a small town, where success in the girl’s softball program was excellent, it was every little girl's dream to be a part of that program. When I was a little girl I remember sitting in the stands watching the varsity softball team play thinking about the day when I would get the opportunity to be a part of the program. As I grew older I would think to myself, if I had the chance to play for the program would I excel like all the other girls have done in the past years? Also, I dreamt, as any little girl would, of how breathtaking it would be to be the person who won the game for a state championship title.…

My experiences over the last six years living in NYC have shaped me into the approachable and compassionate person I am today. I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

In today's society the average person goes through high school, then repeats the cycle through college, gets their degree and goes out into the “real world”. They meet someone, have a family and move out to the suburbs. That is the path that most americans take throughout their long journey in life. Contradictory to that some of the wealthiest people took the risk of taking their own path and profited very well from it. “Have the courage to follow your own heart and intuition” (Steve Jobs).…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…
