Personal Narrative: The Copy Shop

Decent Essays
Hi Dianne - I met with my team about the education piece typos. It was our error, not the Copy Shop. Three team members proofed the piece in addition to the Copy Shop designer?!? The key factor was Kate’s departure and the change in the systems we had there. Kate is an excellent proofer and we were relying her for that function too heavily.

Going forward, I’ve made several changes to keep this from happening again. 1) Each team member will proof and initial their corrections with the date and time so we know who edited which version and when 2) We’ll add an extra layer of protection by running all print copy through two reliable proofing programs - “Paper Rater and Grammarly”. 3) We’ll ask for a pre-press proof from The Copy Shop. I interview Ashleigh Zoller at Shasta County Health and Human Services. The first question I asked her was how do you proofread and edit your work? She answered that before any mail or correspondence goes out of the office everything goes through the spell check through the computer and if there’s anything wrong we correct the errors and still re read everything. To determine that everything is correct and the right codes, regulations, names, emails, and return addresses. If we are unsure of anything such as the reading, we will print it out to give to coworker to read and look it over to verify everything is correct then we will save the document and mail it out.…

As a child, I remember my grandma reading me The Little Engine that Could every time I visited her house. Which may seem slightly odd that, that’s what I enjoyed as a kid. It quickly led to me writing in school. During kindergarten, we were all about writing our own books. For example, I ended that year with 22 books.…

The primary reason why the policymakers and voters are choosing intermediate sanctions for the non-violent and low-risk offenders is financial constraints and the high costs of prisons (Schmalleger & Smykla, 2015). For example, the support of intermediate sanctions is the fact that prisons are ineffective at rehabilitating prisoners with half of the prisoners released being expected return to prison within three years due to new offenses. The voters also believe too many people are in prison and this is unnecessary considering the costs and the non-violent nature of some convictions. References Schmalleger, F., & Smykla, J. O. (2015). Corrections in the 21st century (7th ed.).…

Someone that is sentenced to jail will only serve up to a year or is awaiting their trial date (Danahy, 2017). A person that is sentenced to jail has been convicted of misdemeanor charges. Misdemeanor charges are charges that are minor offenses of the law and usually are non-violent in nature. Some examples of offenses that people get sentenced to jail are check fraud, disorderly conduct, breaking and entering, and filing a false police report (Schmalleger & Smykla, 2015).…

I can put this to Terri & see if it's an option. I'm not 100% sure how she would have to set it up, but I'm thinking that giving us access to the login would give us access to her other client files. If this is the case, C3 should just purchase its own Quickbooks and update the agreement to correct the typo. We don't enter any data into Quickbooks. We would send a spreadsheet of the monthly transactions to Terri and she would enter them and prepare the financial reports.…

Additionally, the correction of this shows that the scribe is in full control of what is changed. Also, if the scribe likes something in a different way then he can do that. Personally, I think that this unfair that the scribe is able to do this. I understand that it is hard to interpret some words in the original manuscript but with research the story should be put at how the original author intended it to be. Another example of this occurring is with Cain and Cam.…

Whether we know it or not in this modern society we are writers everyday of our lives. These interactions shape not only how we communicate but how we write as well. Personally, I have been shaped by the influence of both other writers I have known and those I have only read the creations of. Those same influences contributed to both my writing style in the classroom and to my identity as a writer. I spent a lot of my childhood with my nose deep in fiction novels at near by libraries.…

My biggest problems when it came to writing was using commas and semicolons, coherence of my papers and responding to a text. I use the word “was” because I found several resources to help me out with the biggest problems I have when it comes to my writing. The best resources I found for these problems are The Little Seagull Handbook, the MEAL plan template and paperrater.com. One of my favorite resources that I used was the Little Seagull Handbook and this resource helped me with my semicolon and comma problems I had been experiencing. For as long as I can remember I have subconsciously been using comas to extend sentences and those sentences became run on sentences.…
