Personal Narrative: The Cookie Monster

The Cookie Monster A long time ago, during the year 2015, I had been dieting, exercising, and cutting down how much I ate so I could lose weight. This had been going on for quite a few months and I had not eaten a whole lot off sweets or any other kind of junk food. One day, however, I began to truly crave some sweets. At the time, I was very hungry, my stomach was grumbling and carrying on loudly about wanting to be fed. Our pantry had hardly anything we can eat because people were too lazy to go grocery shopping. I would have gone to get them myself, but at the time I didn’t have a driver’s license. This craving convinced me to go to the kitchen and find something sweet. I entered the kitchen and the floor was rough and cold under my feet. The kitchen itself was messy and littered with dishes. There must have been thirty plates and ten glasses sitting on the countertops, the dinner table, and even just sitting in the sink waiting to be washed. There was no reason for us to have these many dishes other than my grandmother being a bit of a hoarder. The kitchen itself was freezing there was a drastic change in temperature from when I was sitting in my room. My bedroom may have been hot, but our kitchen must have been like sixty degrees. …show more content…
I walked over to open it and take out the pan. The cookies smelled so fresh. They were cooked perfectly as well. They weren’t burnt to a crisp nor were they more soft than they needed to be. After I placed them onto a paper plate and waited for them to cool down, the fresh smell of the cookies wafted to me all the way into living room. When we finally ate them, my craving was finally satisfied. They tasted really sweet and chocolaty. They had hardened from the time passed cooling down and crunched with every bite. I was so proud of my creation at the time and my parents even praised me for a job well done and informed me it was my job to make cookies from now

“No!” The babysitter said at the two young children who continuously reached for the cookies, the children’s faces squished up creating creases in the young skin causing them to look like two walking balls of crumpled paper instead of two five year old. The babysitter held the two cookies in her hand, high up away from the children like she was teasing two puppies. “But, we want the cookies.” One pouted, fiddling with her chubby fingers, her eyes locked on the chocolate chip glory that was a Chips Ahoy Cookie.…

I was starving. I at least ate two little baskets of chips and salsa. The little gadget Coach Martin had started flashing violently and making a weird noise, and that right there was our cue that our table was finally ready. The waiter picked us up at the entrance and walked us to our table. While we were walking to our table I couldn’t help to notice that, that restaurant was probably the first one I’ve been to that’s been packed with human beings.…

I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I improved greatly in athletics and my academic career.…

My earliest memories with nature were in my backyard, either playing with ants with my brother, or eating leafs off the lilac bush. As I got older, I was introduced to science formally in school. Playing with ants in the yard turned into class pets and food chain lessons; eating leafs turned into growing bean sprouts to learn about photosynthesis. But this, too, changed as I got older.…
