Personal Narrative: The Control Of My Hair

I was only 11 years old when something so unexpected took complete control over my body. Quite frankly, it all began on the day I got 5 inches removed from my hair.

I closed my eyes shut as my hair stylist added the finishing touches to my hair. The sound of the snipping and shredding fizzed as I clenched my fists in anticipation for my hair stylist’s masterpiece.

“Open your eyes! How do you like it?” my hair stylist asked.

I looked into the mirror and the first thing I saw was a choppy, shoulder length bob. Within a matter of seconds, adrenaline rushed up to my body. My clammy palms were drenched in sweat. My hair turned out the polar opposite of what I asked for. I left the hair salon feeling disoriented and shocked. Sooner or later,
