When I was younger, I experienced one of the worst things to have happened to me since entering high school. Coming to these amazing waters; it was a comfortably hot day, with no sight of any pesky insects, like back home. Remembering where I was; the sky was the deepest color of blue I have ever seen, clouds were vibrantly white, looked almost like uncolored silky cotton candy as they drifted lazily across an otherwise perfect sky. There is nothing that can compare to that summer’s day; the sun’s rays were beaming, worming the rich sand as my feet sunk in between my toes it felt like the sand was giving me a massage. …show more content…
He entered the water first, trailing I put on my scuba gear and slowly entered the water, waste deep I can see my brother near what looked like the edge of the sea, I wanted to follow, as I was trying to follow, I noticed the water getting deeper and deeper, I didn’t mind because I enjoyed seeing the fish and other organisms that were in the water, I could see every species of fish in these waters, every size from colossal to plankton, and every color you can imagine, in these vast waters. To see these amazing creatures I had to submerge my face and look through my goggles to see, I use my snorkel to breath underwater. My amazing view of all of the underwater life, seeing animals I only had seen in pictures like turtles, and also seeing things I’ve never heard of, like these puffy spiky red balls, all I remember about this is that my uncle told me not to touch them; I then remember my main mission, which was to find my older brother. All I remember was that he was at what looked like the edge of the sea. I swam farther and farther from shore, getting carried away looking at all the amazing underwater

My father sitting at my right side, dozing, his head bobbing every once in awhile. I hear the faint noise of something crunching and look above me to see a squirrel perched on a small branch. “Put some meaning into your words,” said my chorus teacher as apathetic faces and idle mouths stare back at him“ A folk song of this magnitude should not be sung with such a light heart”. My ears tune into the dissonant voices surrounding me slowing interpreting the lack of passion already evident to my teacher. Subconsciously, my eyes and head slowly move downwards trying to shield themselves from the wave of indifference flooding my class. As I open my eyes, I am met with the gaze of the words boldly printed on my sheet of music - Wade in the Water. My thoughts are delayed as the urgent words capture my attention only to be interrupted by a piece of my reality.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

All I could see was the ground coming closer and closer to my face as I fell for the first time off the back of a horse. There was a teenage boy jumping in front of me, trying to stop the run away and keep me from hurting anything on my very small, frail body, but to no avail. I hit the ground hard, gasps and screams echoing in my ears and ate a few mouthfuls of dirt, sand and horse manure. Being only 5 and having the gritty feeling of sand stuck between my teeth I burst into tears and lay on the wet sand until an adult came to my aid. I was then walked to the hose to rinse my mouth and it was then that I remember feeling the sting in my hands and looking down to witness pieces of sand stuck beneath my skin.…
