During the college search process, I've learned that I am a take-charge person. Before applying to college I did not have an older sibling or parent telling me what to do, therefore I had to figure everything out myself; which included family trips to visit colleges, the application process, and countless meetings that I made with my counselor to make sure I was on track.
A personal tradition that my family has is that every Sunday morning my father cooks all of us pancakes and we sit and eat together before we go to church. Although having pancakes every week may seem like it would get old, it has the opposite effect, and I look forward to the quality time with my family every week.
