Personal Narrative: The Chicago Cubs

Improved Essays
I have deep passion for the Chicago Cubs baseball team. I have been taught to love them since I was a little boy. I have always loved them since I have known baseball. From wanting to be the Cubs on my little league team, to watching them with my father at night. From listening to the stories of my father and grandfather, to hearing the history, present, and future. Those things I will remember for the rest of my life, while I’m watching the Cubs. When, we were given the task of completing an art project on whatever we wanted, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I knew that I had to do something with the Cubs. So, I thought of something that made me the happiest when watching the Cubs. I quickly thought of a Cubs win, which was represented …show more content…
When deciding how I was going to complete and get my idea on paper, I chose to sketch it out. I would sketch out the W in the middle of the paper. I was able to do this through much measuring. I made the W about eight inches across and ten inches tall. I then, decided to paint the W in a nice dark blue. After this was completed, I decided to print out the names and numbers in a nice cursive font. Next, I would take a blue pastel and shade the back of the paper behind the font. I then, would trace over the names and numbers with a pencil. This easily placed the names and numbers on the paper. I traced over the blue pastel with a blue colored pencil then, to fill the names and numbers completely. Next, I decided to print out a Cubs logo. I then shaded the back of the paper behind the logo with a red pastel. I then, traced the Cubs logo on each side of the W. This placed the Cubs logos easily on the paper. I then, colored the Cubs logos with a red colored pencil. Finally, I added a blue circle around the Cubs logo on the right. I then, was able to add a nice black frame to my paper to make it look more professional. This was done with precise measurement and a dark blue paint. The circle does go off the page, though. This is how I was able to construct my art

For the away uniforms I decided these consistent with the color scheme of the logo. So, I used the browns signature colors, brown and orange, and then added the gray color that is identical to the color of the dog bone in the log. I thought this would help to draw a connection between the logo and players on the field. I also knew that I wanted the top to use more orange and then have a pop of brown and then the opposite for the bottoms. I made the socks orange because it would blend in with the kneepads of the pants.…

The highlight for the Cubs that day was Aramis Ramirez the third baseman for the Cubs who hit a homerun* that game. Other than that the Cubs lost that game and I didn’t care because all I could think of was going to run the bases. So after the game I went now to field level I looked around imagining someday if I could play on this field. I remember feeling the padded wall down the right field wall and looking at the visiting bullpen mounds.…

During that very special baseball game I was beasting at shortstop. Every time a ball was hit my way I would either catch it or scoop it up off the ground depending on what type of hit it was but if the ball came my way my fans already knew what was going to happen. My fans already knew that I was going to get the batter out or get a double play and most of the time I did. It felt so great knowing that I helped my team achieve excellence and earn victories. My team had a very strong and unstoppable defense and if it wasn't for our teamwork, we wouldn't have had such a successful season.…

Baseball: the sport where you stand around for 20 minutes and move 3 feet to the left and move 3 feet to the right. It’s so intense. It’s so intense that you could take a nap on the field with everything out there. Of course, I’m being sarcastic. The only time it’s actually fun is when you’re annihilating the other team while they’re asleep on the field.…

For my summative I want to create a two-part project that will include a comic book cover, and the first 2 panels that will teas what the story is about. In order to create this art piece, I will be using Mayfair paper cut in 7” by 9” s. This is because, the size imitates a common comic book size giving a real life feeling. Next I have decided to use Faber-castell and staedtler crayons as my medium. This is because it will allow me to create a neat look.
