My family has been struggling with financial issues after my father was diagnosed with gangrene on his right foot; which lead to a toe amputation. A couple months after the surgery my father went for a follow up where the doctor noticed another toe was affected with gangrene as well which required another amputation on his left foot. My dad spent three weeks in the hospital under constant supervision and continuous therapy. After my father was released, he was still recommended to undergo physical therapy to help him with his balance and learn to walk again.
All the medical expenses from my father's injury made all our emergency funds disappear with no money to spare. With this surgery, my father was required to be on medical leave and could not return to work unless

My mother, who basically spent most of her married life as a housewife had to find a job; but due to her inexperience, age, and language barrier, she settled for a job at
Wal-Mart earning minimum wage. At the time, I was sixteen, so I was old enough to get a job. My parents had always told me they never wanted me to work during high school so I could focus on my studies. Noticing the struggles my mother was going through without hesitation I decided to go out and seek employment to help out with the bills.
I got my first job at a pretzel stand but because I was hired with a part time position my hours were limited and not enough to earn much money. It was a couple of months later that I found a job at a retail store named TJMAXX. My managers understood my situation and gave me long shifts so I could earn money to take home to my parents.
At first, it was a such a struggle for me to keep up with my studies and my job. I was used to having my mother around me at all times, and my only worry was my school assignments. Now I had to worry about helping my dad do his home therapy, take his medicine, and make sure I went to work while

After a few months of working at the restaurant I ended up having appendicitis and a bacterial infection, so I was out for a couple months. My first job was one that I had foolishly not considered an 'actual job' until the first day of training, and then another, more prominent realization the first couple days as I started. I applied to work in a position called a Camphand at the summer camp I had been going to for a few years, Camp Chrysalis. Fresh out of my junior year of high school, this was an exciting new opportunity for my peers and I to start working at camp after being a camper in an age appropriate setting. In my head, things had reversed for the better in comparison to the past. Instead of having to pay to go to camp, I was now getting paid to be at camp!…

Paid to Play In college, athletes do a lot of work, both for their class and for their team. As a college student, money is a big issue too. College athletes have the problem where they do not get paid to play the sport. For example, in the National Collegiate Athletic Association or the NCAA, athletes have to train hard every day, and play games every day and they do not get paid for it, while the NBA does:…

I used to spend hours in the woods thinking I do not need to do anything else, but to head home for lunch. Yes, there I was, the 15-year-old who was not prepared for the next year to come, and what would come of my days spent in the morning dew of the woods. I’ve thought about this recently, and realize that I was ill-prepared for everything.…

I originally applied for the receptionist position at Great Clips, at the recommendation of my former stylist, who worked for the salon. I knew that it would be a great way to earn some hands on experience in a salon, before and while attending cosmetology school. However I didn't realize how much I would benefit from the position. Not only did I have the chance to gain customer service experience, I had the opportunity to observe everything from haircuts, styles, and perms. Working in a salon has increased my passion for cosmetology and has helped me gain experience that will hopefully lead to a stylist position at Great Clips in the near future.…

She had gotten into a car accident the day before and I came at the worst time. I went to her funeral and all I remember is crying and reading a…
