The Butcher
The smell of rotting meat forcefully entered my nostrils. The ground was covered in coagulated blood. The room looked like an art studio that hadn’t been cleaned for years. It was a notorious 147 year old prison that was surrounded by the enigma of paranormal activity. The reports say a homeless man was slain to death by a butcher’s knife. Rick had an inquisitive look on his face as he looked over at us. Everyone knew what he was thinking and wanted no part of it… well except for

Buffy's vision blurred, damp hair covered part of her face, sticking with wet. She blinked her vision clearer for a minute, not quite ready to pull herself out of the puddle, not quite sure if she could. Face sideways in the water, cold and probably dying, flashes of how ran through her mind almost in slow motion, but almost in hyperspeed. The last weeks of sparring and battle-prep and the impending death march running like blood through her ears. Coming down here, determined, to end it.…

The Narrows There’s not much to talk about in regards to this little place, but there is a lot to say. From the small, dusty gravel parking lot, to the limited lake shore not 60 feet away, and the 3 or 4 miniature, 1-bedroom cabins in between, there isn’t a lot to look at. The memories though, packed into that cramped space stretch wider, when placed back to back, than the joined length of the smiles on my family’s faces when in that place, but not by much.…
