Personal Narrative: The Boxer

On 05/12/17 at 6:48pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian was dispatched to the area of W 5th Ave and Highland St on a dog at large, patrol only. I arrived in the area and saw a unknown male and female playing with a white medium mix dog and a boxer in a field. I stopped and exited my vehicle and approached the individuals. They indicated that they are the ones that called about the boxer running loose. I returned to my vehicle and retrieved my snare pole and doggie treats. I slowly approached the boxer, as I would get close the boxer would run away, I was unable to get within twenty feet of the dog. The male and female suggested that we use their dog to lure the Boxer to their house. The Boxer initially followed their dog to W. 6th Ave, but would not enter a secure area. 5th Ave. I drove around the area, until I noticed the dog was back in the field with the male and female that initiate the called. As they saw me driving, I noticed that they were guiding the dog back to their house, I slowly drove behind them. They placed the dog in their backyard. The female individual approached me to state they have the dog confined, but it possible the dog could jump over the fence. I waited for Deputy Warden S. Wykle to arrive before I went into the backyard. Deputy Warden S. Wykle arrived, we enter the backyard. I was able to approach the dog and place a leash on her without additional incident. I took the dog to my van, and scan it for a microchip. We locate a microchip. Deputy Warden S. Wykle had Franklin County Animal Care and Control (FCACC) Dispatcher B. Grotsky try to make contact with the dog owner. FCACC Dispatcher B. Grotsky made contact with the previous dog owner who stated she will contact the new dog owner and advised them we have the dog in our possession. FCACC Dispatcher B Grotsky made contact with dog owner Kelsey Park who provided an address of 103 W 9th Ave to return the
