Personal Narrative-The Bibby Crab

Looking into a mirror, I don’t seem normal. My features come off as odd and stand out to me: like my lightly colored skin, high cheekbones, slight pixie nose, small lips, slightly crooked teeth, small eyes, brown hair, and brown eyes. All of these features are perceived to me as puzzle pieces that someone will eventually put together to form a masterpiece. I began looking through printed photos to find one that would fit perfectly in a frame saying "happiness". After delving into and browsing through what seemed like a thousand pictures, I stumbled upon a cheerful picture of my mom and I looking giddy as ever in front of a new restaurant called "The Crabby Crab" in Sherman Oaks. While examining the photo, I started picking out my moms beautiful features, such as her scrunched nose and little eyes that crinkled on the sides, which made her look overjoyed while smiling. The picture I was holding brought back a mix of emotions since that day was an awful day for my family that I often do not like to recall. “The Crabby Crab,” as implied in its name, is a seafood eatery, and the fact that I am vegan caused my family to fight and bicker, …show more content…

In January, 2000 Laura Fraser wrote the article “Why I Stopped Being a Vegetarian” for Salon magazine. Fraser is an author published in several national magazines including The New York Times, Vogue, and O: the Oprah magazine. Attempting to reach an audience of either new or long term vegetarians/vegans, Fraser discusses her journey of changing her vegetarian lifestyle of 15 years to quitting entirely. She happened to write this article in the beginning of the year while most are advancing their new year's resolutions. Perhaps she was trying to convince newly vegetarians or vegans not to continue with their resolutions, or maybe it was all just a coincidence of timing.…

I was stuck, sitting in the booth, waitress staring at me for 15, 16, 17 seconds now. As I look up at the sky, which is blood red like the sun stabbed it so it could get away from its eternal partner,I begin to hear the horrible noises of these sky creatures. Their horrible squealing draws everything's attention because it sounds the an incantation to summon the devil from the pits of the underworld. The howling wind joins in trying to make the summoning happening quicker but instead it makes me feel like my ears are going to bleed and starts to cast a sleeping spell on anyone caught in this siren song. The trees become alive to this bewitching tunes as their rodent inhabitants begin to run around trying to attack one another like wolves attacking a deer. Next door the neighbor’s rowdy brats come outside, probably because this is their favorite tune, with their wild and atrocious dog to play game of run around and destroy the yard or as most call it fetch.…

People go on these diets to be healthy, eating only plant-based foods, but they are depriving their bodies of the other food groups they need to consume. The sub-point about the pro-vegan organizations provides factual evidence along with evidence of value in that the author talks about what the organizations are doing right and wrong. The organizations that support vegan diets only give out the information that supports their cause.…

Bimba I hopelessly sit on the chalky sidewalk alone, isolated from the roar of street cars and buses intrusively honking their obnoxious horns. My thoughts surround me as I wait for someone to make a simple gesture and toss a small bill in my decrepit Tim Hortons’ coffee cup. The petite awning of the Korean restaurant I sit my back against, along with my cup and two nickels, is all I have. Ever since I lost my job, I cannot bear to see the face of a human, especially my own. Listening to the sound of jubilant people laugh eats at my wandering soul.…
