"Don't worry about me, you can do this!" Sean hollered in agony. I was petrified to look down, I was up 14,125ft in the air, without any safety equipment. It was crucial finding thin empty spaces for my thick and numb fingers to slip into. Sean and I have been best friends since middle school, and we have a devotion to rock climbing. You could say we're adrenaline junkies. We both wanted to free climb Savage. Known for it's steepness and deadly climate, proudly standing at a staggering 28,251ft. Only 280 people out of thousands have actually climbed. We started our journey at 6:30 a.m. to climb the base. The base was hot and humid surrounded by fresh, eloquent grass. We saw White tailed-deers walk freely and squirrels

When I was young in Mastic Beach, we spent Saturday mornings on the porch eating pancakes made by mom and naming all the birds that flew by. When I was young in Mastic Beach, the scent of paint lingered on dads clothes as he taught me how to make the images in my head appear on the canvas in front of me. The clay he brought home already sculpted into figures and applauded no matter how unrecognizable they actually were. When I was young in Mastic Beach, we made frequent trips to the beach at sunset and stayed well into the night, not caring about the mosquito bites that littered our bodies.…

Looking far below at the valley floor, I saw the glistening, deep-blue water of Tenaya Lake amid the sloping forests of Yosemite National Park. However, my appreciation of such splendor was far too short as I quickly refocused my attention to the issue of paramount importance: the enormous, looming wall of granite above me called Tenaya Peak. Only a few hundred feet of this dark, gray behemoth were left to be conquered after my last four grueling hours of exertion on the rock. I bore nothing but my nine centimeter nylon rope, rubber shoes, and safety harness as I clung to the slab of granite just below my father, who lead the route up the northwest buttress of the menacing mountain. As the peak steepened toward the summit, I reminded myself of the one absolute, irrevocable fact while climbing: if I become careless and make a mistake, then I may consequently forfeit…

It was about a five minute walk from our house we rented to the beach, which really felt like five hours because I was really excited. Once we FINALLY got there my friends and I decided to take our shoes off and find a perfect spot in the white hot sand to set up of chairs and umbrella. We took our clothes off because our swim suits were underneath and sprinted to the clear blue ocean.…
