Everybody had a role defined through their work. There was togetherness as well as individualism and freedom. Preferably, I would be a law enforcer experiencing threats people faced in addition to a glimpse at everyday life. Although I would physically be there, I would obligate myself to bring my current values to the table. Among these are respecting the Native Americans and embracing their skills, and pushing

The Hunted I didn’t know who I was. I woke up next to a bunch of muddy kids. They all smelled like they haven't showered in weeks. There was two twins, a chubby kid, and probably the skinniest kid I’ve ever seen. Then I realized I smelled just like them.…

The Great Smoky Mountains I had never smelt the mountains before. When I was planning my trip everyone who had been there before said, “Oh, that smell! You’ll never forget it!”. I always knew it would be an unforgettable trip I just never thought I would crave the mountains afterwards. I can still feel the cool, crisp air that I inhaled when I walked to the porch to watch the sunrise.…

Excuse me while I kindly blow your ''90's kids genders'' out of the water, unceremoniously bury it, and tap dance on its unmarked grave while singing a lovely tune. I have held my tongue this whole time and I feel that I can no longer sit by while this bombards my timeline; in doing so I have been a bystander to this hatefulness and I can not bring myself to be one anymore. Before you lot continue to run around judging people for their lives, which frankly you have no business doing, to begin with, screaming at the top of your tiny childlike lungs that transgender is a new thing that people have constructed because they're ''snowflakes''…

The American West was a land of opportunity for everyone from 1865-1900. Though, the extent of the opportunity varied on your race or creed. In many cases, if you were intelligent, resourceful, and hardworking you would likely succeed in one way or another. The opportunities of recently freed blacks, the Chinese, and the American Indians were much less than that of the white man. In almost all cases, these groups of people really had no other choice and had to take any chance they could get in order to make a living.…

I am a diehard Cowboys fan, they have been my team for as long as I can remember. To me the Cowboys are an American icon, they are America's Team. I have successfully converted my wife to the blue side and even my three year old daughter yells out, "Cowboys" anytime she sees a football game on television regardless of who the team is. When we got our new quarterback this season I knew we would have a great season ahead, but not everyone agreed. The season started out as usual Romo as quarterback.…

Rebellions never begin well. Their words are ringing in my head once more. Trudging through mud in a godforsaken county in Pennsylvania – blood and bodies scattered, artillery pellets entrenched in the ground - I hope this is just the beginning. Growing up, my Native American ancestry was made apparent to me by my grandmother. Of course my mother’s appearance, with her long dark brown hair, tanned skin tone and her deep brown eyes led me to assume my ancestors heritage, but it was my grandmother who introduced me to the native rituals. Rituals such as the burning of sage to cast off negative entities, and the making of dream catchers each year on my birthday. My native american descent is the Delaware Valley Indians. This Nation of Indians is part of the Algonquian Culture that has a teaching that predates the Biblical Noah's flood and the Matriarchal system of Native Ancestry therefore recognizes both father or mother in relations.…
