Personal Narrative: Test Track

Have you ever traveled 1,200 miles for a sport? Well I have! In June my dance company and I ventured to Daytona Beach, Florida for Dance Nationals. I was so excited despite being exhausted from two whole weeks of boot camp preparing for Nationals. I had my bags packed and I was ready to go. I decided to travel with my friend, Alexandra. We were on the same flight so we wanted to drive to the airport together. We flew into Orlando. I went to Epcot with some of my friends the next day. I had the absolute best time ever there! We went on one ride called Test Track. It was a ride based on racing and we went up, down, and around at lightning speed. Then we ate at the Coral Reef Café. It had a view of an aquarium with thousands of fish and stingrays. Some were as big as five feet wide! To end the night we watched a breathtaking 15 minuet long firework show. I never wanted it to end. The next day Alexandra and I drove with our parents to Daytona where our hotel was. My whole group went to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and celebrated my friend’s birthday by eating a Baskin Robins ice cream cake. After that we decided to all go to the pier and ride this rickety roller coaster called the Sand Blaster. At the time I was very frightened to go on it but, …show more content…
When my mom and I were walking across the street was still half asleep. The heat was so intense I could practically feel the makeup melting off my face. I got all warmed up and into my first costume. Finally, after going on stage six different times, it was time for awards! Everyone knows awards is the most exciting part, especially because we got to find out what dances of ours made it into finals. (This would compete the next day) I was overjoyed to find out my tap dance made it into finals, along with production. That night I was still filled with adrenaline from our victory I just couldn’t fall

Road Test I had been waiting for this day all my life. After a year of driving with a permit, it was time to take my drivers road test to get my license. I ran to my mother’s room and told her to get ready we had to be at the DMV by 11:30 am. She checked the time and to her surprise it was only 9:00 am, which for me was late. After 10 minutes of annoying her, she crawled out of bed.…

In choosing this topic for my Take the Challenge project, I didn’t realize how much I would experience my topic. I’m Michaela La Vonne Dimick. I am 16 years old, and I have depression. If anyone has looked at a brightly colored image, and then looked at a black-and-white version of that image, then he or she would notice that he or she observes more detail in the black and white photo. Depression is like this.…

The clock had already hit 0.00 but the final shot was in the air. I had watched it leave my hands from just behind the three point line less with less than a second of time left. I knew my girlfriend was behind me, in the stands watching as she had been the whole game. My coach had told me to take the shot during the timeout, five seconds had been on the clock at that point, almost an eternity. Out opponents had gotten so cocky, when they scored to take the lead with 8 seconds remaining, their bench had run out onto the court forcing the referee to yell at them all, delaying the game.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…

Ever since I was little and even now, I always had an endearment with sports that involve running, including Track. In middle school when I was in seventh grade, I wanted to participate in Track because I knew I would enjoy the sport. Track started in the spring during seventh grade, and the first couple of practices I thought were challenging and very arduous because of what little practice I had before Track had even started. All the new athletes joining our school track teams were callow and juvenile in the experience we had within the sport. The coaches were very meticulous, punctilious , and information on tips to assist us in what area each athlete wanted to make quintessential.…

The seven self-assessment quizzes I took were sustainable marriage, parenting style, relationship connectedness, how strong is your relationship, domestic violence, love, lust or a loser, and energy vampires. I was shocked and perplexed with the results of the sustainable marriage, relationship connectedness, and how strong is your relationship. The scores on the sustainable marriage and relationship connectedness were a little low however, I scored very high on how strong is your relationship. I felt as if one of the assessments was low they would all be low instead of 2/3 of them being low. With that being said, there is no doubt my wife and I have a strong relationship.…

For my second well-being strategy I focused on gratitude. I wasn't surprised that this was one of my best-fitting strategies because I firmly believe in the power of gratitude. In order to make sure I was expressing gratitude every day I decided to make my evening prayers focused on only expressing thanks. This also takes a little from the spirituality activity since I would be focusing my gratefulness on God, even though it wasn't one of my best-fitting strategies (which did surprise me). I had thought of gratitude as simply saying thank you for something, however, my view changed after reading Lyubomirsky's perspective.…

It was late one friday night, I was on my way home from my boyfriend's house in Amenia to my house in Ancram. I had done this drive a thousand times and never had an issue. I was doing my usual speed of 60 on all the roads so i could make it home in my normal 20 minutes when it was a typical 35 minute drive. Than my 20 minute drive turned into a trip to the emergency room, a totaled car, and some very unhappy parents. My typical drive changed when I decided to check my snapchat on a curvy back road while doing 60 mph when I should have been doing 30.…
