Four months here and I still can remember my first day coming to this island to teach the the Hawaiians about Christianity. Going on a long and difficult journey, smelling the crisp air coming from the amazing islands of Oahu. Hurtling of that cranky and rusty boat I saw the beautiful palm trees dancing in the breeze. Then there they were, the Hawaiians standing on the beach.
NAKED! I looked at my mother and gave her an outlandish look. “What in the world are these people thinking, not wearing clothes?” While in the island for a couple of months, taxes in Hawaii went into effect raising it by 2 dollars around the islands, my family’s hard worked money in jobs were going to the government to create schools to educate the young children. Views and values of cultures changes when they are introduced into a new religion, society structure and laws. We see the world through our understanding of nature and beliefs. The creation of beliefs are the most powerful force. Natives of the islands of New Guinea had a different view of the world before the western missionary movements arrived. Europeans have introduced new beliefs for the natives so they see the world from a new lense and understand the nature of human existence and culture in a new way.…

When Western presence commenced to escalate in Hawaii, it would ultimately lead to the collapse of its monarchy and annexation to the U.S. Its downfall most likely initiated when growing amounts of Western Christian missionaries began to populate the islands of Hawaii’s. This was mostly caused by the U.S.’s slow expansion into the Pacific and Latin America. The initial purpose of these missionaries was to spread the Christian faith, which they succeeded in. However, they would provide the foundation for the collapse of Hawaii’s kingdom.…

Many people don’t know what they want to be when they “grow up”, as for my mother she didn’t know what type of religion she wanted to be in when she “grew up”. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

I’m very sorry that I wasn’t able to send you a letter for the past few years. Since the day I left Alaska, me and many other missionaries went through an unforgiving sea, docked our ship, Uranie on a small bay in Hawai’i island, and right now we’re in the middle of teaching some important things to these Hawaiians. I don’t know if you’ll fully understand, but the reason why I secretly sailed all the way out into the middle of the ocean is, because we missionaries needed to spread our Christianity to Hawai’i. When we landed on the island, all of the Hawaiians were showing most of their skin, the men showed off their big, and humongous muscles to the public throughout the hot sunny day, and they believed in these things called gods. Since I haven’t got a chance to tell you anything about what I’ve been doing, I must as well tell you now.…
