Personal Narrative: Survivor By Journey

Great Essays
When reflecting on my character; my most dominant trait has stood out, being a caring person. From listening to a friend in need, feeding the homeless and volunteering for Make-A-Wish I have learned I love to lend a hand.

Jorge had been distant for the past few weeks and as a matter of fact his attendance at school was quite poor so I was not sure what he needed. In a soft monotone voice and with long pauses between his sentences he says, "Hey man, I need someone to talk too. Would you be able to come over. I can't do this over the phone." But for my family.", I was just glad to see him smiling once more. Besides his rough start in life, Jorge has overcome the odds and is now attending one of the best liberal arts colleges in the

Time seemed to be frozen but ultimately the class ended and the long needed break arrived. With over and hour to the next class to begin and with hunger pains, as well as my stomach making noises I decide to get a bite to eat. Walking down the campus of The University of Incarnate Word the cold fall wind started to pick up and knock down the leaves covering the paths. Strolling down the center of campus my mind was made up and I came to the decision I wanted McDonalds. Being across the street from where the campus stood it seemed like the perfect option. While heading to the McDonald's at the front of the campus the Our Lady's Chapel is located there is a man curled up in a checkered blanket against the wall. The unfortunate man seemed to be homeless and without any shelter he was stuck in the cold freezing half to death, with nothing I could possibly do for him to help I

The newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Doctor Strange, finally released its trailer, with a prevalent emphasis on time, its manipulation, and the implications of said manipulation (along with magic!). Naturally upon its release, the “nerd hype” flowed through my veins, and almost immediately I scoured the internet for beginners’ level mystical spells that I could perform on my own. In the middle of my research on the “Sorcerer Supreme”, I began to reflect about time and how it was more important to me now than ever. In the second grade, time was of very little significance.…

The pain began slowly, pricking me with its sharp needles only while doing barre in ballet once a week. I ignored it, believing it to be normal, common discomfort that would soon go away, typical thoughts of a dancer whose entire sport is centered around “good pain”. Six months later, it had escalated to the degree that every step I took felt like an arrow to my knee. Dancing had become impossible, and it was determined that I should be taken to the orthopedist. The bland, brown and beige lobby became extraordinarily familiar as I waited two hours to be examined.…

Going through the sophomore hallway wasn’t really my preference at all, but I needed to avoid Sarah who was already trying to follow me. Knowing the most common place I would be in was near the vending machines by the lockers, I took a different direction to get past her. The next class I had was English Literature. Daniel and the others were on the other side of the school building so I wouldn’t be seeing any of them if I had decided to pass through the lower class hallways. I didn’t really know what else to be looking forward to the rest of the day, as it was coming to an end with two classes left.…

I will never know what series of events preceeded this disparity between genders. I will never know why girls are the ones to back down in the hallway games of chicken. Perhaps it stemmed back from the hunter-gatherer days. No, that is much too ancient to reasonably exist in the modern day. What contributed to the inequality in these school halls?…

My Experience I believe that when it comes to experiences we all have had an experience where our choices and actions shape who we are and it creates a path. Whether the path is good or bad depends on what the experience is and what you do regarding it but in my life I’ve had some really rough experiences. One of these experiences is choosing the right college to help me with my first step on a journey of a thousand miles. I hope that my experience at the Rockingham Community College will be one I will never forget because I get to make friends, meet new teachers and maybe help others if I can.…

“You have three seconds to make your choice, write or I call your parents!!!” Those words shook me to the core. If my dad got another call for me being a bad student, he might destroy my TV. Joining a militia was one of the top things I never thought I’d do, and becoming Special Forces in that militia never made the list. Just when I thought I’d finally fallen asleep. The blazing light that fought to turn the milky white of my eyes to a black crispy crime. I raised my tingling hand that throbbed and as I gripped that white string and let my hand fall I returned to the cool dark. As I thought I had finally restored peace to the land a howling echo rang throughout the kingdom, and only then did I realize it was time to raise my aching body from its eternal slumber.…
