Personal Narrative: Superdog

Improved Essays
SuperDog The day started like normal in the city of Maine, I got my food, affection, and my mission from Super Animal Co. This time it was Mr. Rat. (My Main Nemesis) He decided it was a good idea to release his henchmen, disguised as mailmen, to start fires all over the state.

I flew over the city until I reached Mr. Rats underground lab. I crawled up the long and narrow pipe hoping not to be caught. Once I got down, I snuck back behind the large computer program Mr. Rat owned and called M.O.U.S.E (Manuel and Organized program Used for Security and Evil) and jumped into a slot that was used for optional hiding places for plans. Just then I heard a large clang and peeked out to see Mr. Ratś henchmen carrying a small, metal cage.

Joseph Campbell was a scholar who studied ancient mythology for many years. He came up with the idea of the Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey says that all the heroes will come across many processes throughout their journey. Each of the processes gets the hero closer to his/her prize. Just checking in to see how your dog duties are coming along. I hope Emma is healing and that Diesel hasn’t eaten anyone yet. Our Foster dog almost died, was diagnosed with either/both leukemia and a stomach blockage of some sort, and then made a full recovery. We had a chance to have him put down, but I decided to give him more time and brought him home from the hospital with a prescription for Prednisone, which was expected to extend his life by maybe another 6 weeks. He’s in his third week now and, other than the shaved legs and belly, seems perfectly normal.…

Rough Draft We walked down the aisle passing by cage after cage, listening to the deafening sound of hundreds of dogs barking. Cheryl, the vintner coordinator, tried to tell us about some of the dogs, but with the amount of noise all we could do was nod and pretend like we understood. I kept my eyes open for dogs that would be fun to walk after our orientation. And out of the corner of my eye I saw a ghost of a dog.…

Joseph Campbell, the creator of the hero’s journey, did a lot of research on ancient mythology. He discovered that many heroes travel the same paths to becoming a hero. Campbell decided that heroes come across many challenges that are put into stages and in those stages the hero grows closer to the reward at the end. I am definitely not a hero, but my journey of finding Christ and giving my life to him has absolutely made me into a better person overall. As I look at my journey of finding Christ, I see that it has many similarities to Campbell’s Hero’s Journey.…

Having your name on the newspaper should be a glorious occasion right? Well my name was printed right smack in the middle of the newspaper. With big bold letters, “grandpa saves teenager and dog from lake” was stamped onto the front page.
