Personal Narrative: Suicide And Suicide

Improved Essays
A book tells a story, it tells the story of someone or something. Most of the time the story being told gets deeper into detail and tells things that wouldn't be said in the beginning. I made my collage a book to symbolize the different parts of me. There are three layers; what people see when they first see me, what my friends and family see from and in me, and finally that part that I hide from the world. When you first meet me I’m quiet and shy then slowly as you get to know me you learn what I’m passionate about but, you never learn about the part of me that is detached for the world. When opening a my book you are shown not much, there is very little. There isn't much because I don’t share much about myself, I keep my life hidden. You have your obvious things like, that I’m different from other girls, I’m quiet and keep to myself, I don't show much …show more content…
There are days I just feel detached from everything and other days I purposefully detach myself. It’s my dark side. I have have helped friends through issues that have caused issues for me. Suicide, suicide is topic that hits me hard, it’s something I’ve had a few friends attempt to go through with. When someone brings up something about suicide I become emotionally unstable because I remember all the conversations I’ve had with friends in attempt to talk them out of it and how I watched them struggle with this. I also have trust issues, sure this may be normal for a teenage but it’s something I struggle with majorly. As you look at my last page, there is minimal color, everything is black and gray. You have My Chemical Romance on there a lot, they are my comfort in dealing with my struggles and are a big reason I’m not in such as bad condition as some of my friends. There’s also one thing that stands out two tattoos, both referencing Doctor Who, those two tattoos are what I want to get for my first two tattoos when I’m legally

There are many parts to a book, and each part may affect each reader differently. In Black Boy by Richard Wright, Richard experiences the hardship of growing up black in the south. During this time period, racism flourished and blacks were not giving the same opportunities nor were they seen as equal. In Black Boy, Uncle Hoskins death and Richard reading books from the library caught my attention the most because these scenes played a huge role in defining and understanding Richard's character.…

I’m going to write this essay about me. That may not seem very difficult, as that’s what most essays are about when describing a person’s relation to a story. However, I’ve always struggled with revealing my emotions to people, no matter what the circumstance. I say I’m an open book, but that doesn’t mean the book is open all the way. It could be, perhaps, cracked open, with only enough visible to understand various parts of the story.…

What would be discovered if my entire life’s events rested in the pages of a lengthy novel? Each reader would have the opportunity to read about my life’s best moments, like the time I successfully finished my first piano recital in first grade. Yet, the shameful time I lied to my parents about breaking a vase would be unsheltered in the novel’s pages. Without knowing my beliefs and characteristics, one could perceive who I am by simply knowing the events that took place in my life. Through the host of events in my book, one could guess my Christian beliefs and perhaps my political views.…

“You know that feeling,” she said, “when you are reading a book, and you know that it is going to be a tragedy; you can feel the cold and darkness coming, see the net drawing tight around the characters who live and breathe on the pages. But you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.”- Cassandra Clare. I never liked reading until the sixth grade. I stumbled upon the book 'Black Beauty' by Anna Sewell and that little stumbling changed my life.…

A white scalloped shelf in the corner for as long as I can remember holds all the books I’ve ever read. From books I learned to read with to the ones my mom has tried to get me to read for years. Over the past fourteen years my taste in books has evolved from Daisy Meadows fairy stories, to young adult books, to ones with more serious and realistic topics. Ever since I read my first Dr. Seuss book aloud in class, I have loved reading. I would spend hours in my room reading then march downstairs to let everyone marvel at what a smart young girl I was.…

Why, in the end does suicide seem like a losing battle? Why is it so hard to see the destruction it leaves behind and the hurt along with it? For many nights I asked myself this question, shortly after my Grandpa (Adoptive Dad) Ed ended his life in suicide. It was very hard to overcome and sometimes I didn’t think I could come out of it. Suicide doesn’t just affect you personally, it also makes your life very different.…

Suicide has long been a way to uphold one’s family honor in Japan (Louie, 2014). Unlike the West, religions like Christianity view suicide as a sin carrying a negative meaning. Japanese countries see suicide as a mean of apologizing for disgrace, defeat, or any other dishonorable action or event (Louie, 2014). WWII demonstrated this culture of self-sacrifice. And while the Westerners frequently misunderstand this action, certainly is not for the fundamentalist who will die for their cause, religion, and family.…

Was there ever a time you didn’t like to do something, but as you got older you started to love it more than you did as a child? When I was younger, I never liked to read, but now as I have gotten older, I read more and more different kinds of books and novels. My mother put my sister and me into a reading program in elementary school because our reading levels were lower than they should be. There were no criteria so we read books that were interesting to us, like the Given Tree by Shel Silverstein and Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White. When we finished reading them we would go around and talk about the book we read.…
