Growing up in Eastern Pennsylvania, Wawa stores have always been the go-to place for quick snacks, beverages, or hoagies. Personally, I never understood why Wawa was such a renowned place because I am a very picky eater, and the idea of creating a hoagie seemed very complex. However, sophomore year my friend decided it was about time I tried a Wawa sandwich. To my surprise, the little kiosks in front of the sandwich making station were not as daunting as I expected them to be. The Wawa sandwich I created that day and continue to order consists of the following: a classic roll, pepperoni, barbeque sauce, and pickles.…

Eighteen My adolescent years were quite the roller coaster ride; it was an emotional phase in my life where I felt a mixture of sadness and disappointment. At fourteen I was torn away from my family and friends in Miami, and was made to live with my farther and step mother in Brooksville, Florida. At first the move affected me tremendously, but I was soon settling in, attending a new high school and making new friends. I would always say how I could not wait to be eighteen and move back to Miami.…

The road most people in my community go down you shouldn't expect me to writing this. My family doesn't have the most money in the world and we don't have the most opportunities here. My hometown is one of the poorest in the country and many people would expect me to just quit school and get a job to support my family, but that was not the case with me. I pushed myself to achieve something greater than what others around me have done. I didn't want to fall into the stereotype that because I am part Mexican I’m lazy or just another trouble maker because I'm not that!…

Over the summer break, my family and I went to San Antonio, Texas. I remember the first day there, I had greeted my family there and talked about everything that had happened since we last saw each others. We had decided to the Guadalupe river, the water was frigid cold and awfully deep. I recall standing up on my two own feet and the water had passed my body.
