Strengthen Imperfections
Perfection, it is a goal that everyone strives for in some way, whether it be a perfect paper, perfect hair, or a picture perfect life. To achieve even a modicum of perfection you must improve. Improvement is a constant job. There is always something that can be improved. Benjamin Franklin said “Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.” The three biggest areas that I need improvement in are public speaking, comma splices, and transitions. I found some resources that help me to improve in these areas. These resources are How to Rock the Stage-Public Speaking and Presentation Skills that you can Master, which is a YouTube video, paperrater.com, and smart-words.org.

I have always been very soft-spoken, shy, and naturally introverted. Unfortunately when those personality traits combine it does not make a great social speaker. In school years past whenever I had to present a project, or read aloud I would stutter, move around, perform nervous ticks, and my voice would become shaky. My teachers almost constantly asked me to “speak up” or they would say “I can’t hear you”. Overall having to talk in public was nothing short of a natural disaster for me. I was embarrassed and scared to talk. Thankfully I was able to find a You Tube video that successfully helped me to overcome that social anxiety. The video is called How to Rock the Stage-Public Speaking and Presentation Skills that you can Master. Dr. Michelle Dickinson and Dr. James Whittaker are the two speakers in this video. Dr. Whittaker is a distinguished engineer for Microsoft, he is well known for his unique speeches, and Dr. Dickinson is the Prime Minister Science Communications Prize Winner. They suggest ways to captivate the audience and how to be more comfortable when presenting something to a group of people. Both of these people are well-known speakers, and Dr. Michelle Dickinson even admits in the video that she still gets …show more content…
Stephanie and Isabel considered and included their thoughts concerning the ethical ramifications of graduating from a college. They insist that society benefits from those that decide to attend college.”
After “While the authors’ do admit that a college graduate does, on average, earn more than a high school graduate, money is not everything, and that the enjoyment level of a job is an important factor to consider as well. They declare that financial stability is important, but not all jobs, even those required to have a college degree is a guarantee, it depends upon each situation. Although many people would agree that success and money go hand-in-hand, there are other factors to consider as well if one wishes to be truly successful.
Humans, though some of us may consider ourselves to be logical creatures, are majorly affected by our emotions. Therefore, we must consider the emotional and ethical concerns when

I would consider myself moderately anxious about public speaking. I remember the first few communication apprehensions I experienced in my personal and work life. With my personal experience, I was at church when I shared a testimony with the bible study. With my work encounter, I had to conduct status updates for two areas during project implementations and testing phases with a large group. In both situations, my heart pounded loudly right before I spoke and when the words came out of my mouth, I felt like I had to speak quickly like Speedy Gonzalez!…

To be honest I was never a good public speaker there are times I avoid public speaking there are certain fears I had such as tongue tied, forgetting my lines, the awkward silence when I try to make a joke or point and by being myself blurting out words like "stuff" or "shit" unconsciously. I know it's so unprofessional but it happened quite a few times. After speaking in public I kinda dwell on what I said something that bothered me or that was unsaid.…

In their article Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill explain and compare all factors about going to college and whether people will be successful or not. The common theme throughout the article was how college is a good idea and provides a lot more benefits than getting a job with just a high school graduation certificate. The main factor in the advantages is that the overall money which people will be earning is a lot more if people have a degree. Also a person will be able to go down the route they want too in terms of their occupation as they will be more qualified than others who are trying for the same jobs. I have chosen to analyze an essay called “Should Everyone Go to College?”.…

When I hear my name being called; a rush of panic runs through my whole body, my heart starts to race, my hands start getting sweaty, and when I opened my mouth not a single word comes out. I strongly dislike public speaking, but I am working to improve my skills in that area because I know how much it’s needed in the workplace. There were many of my classmates who are graduating at the same time as me and it seems like we all have a lot to improve. We need more practice and more willing to put what we have learned in the past into practice. I know that during our college careers, we have heard from different people about what we should do when we are giving a presentation, but it looks like we did not take it seriously and now we are facing the consequences of giving a presentation like a high school student and not as an almost professional…
