I. Felicitous I let out a long sigh as I walked along the beach’s crowded boardwalk, alone. Johanna, my twenty-four year old sister, had pulled me here an hour earlier to have a fun night together (her words, not mine). I was honestly just as happy, if not more, to sit home and do absolutely nothing but lay across my bed eating pizza without any human interactions. "Shawn took Jasmine to the vet," I started, waiting for Shawn to give me a thumbs up to continue. He nodded, pretending to be sheepish. "Because she needed an annual check-up. I work there as a tech and Jasmine was one of my patients one day. I called Jasmine from the waiting room and Shawn almost tripped over someone's beagle when he saw me." I asked him if he really thought Jasmine was ill, or if he really wanted to learn about canine dental surgery until one night when I was finished I saw him standing outside with a bouquet of hand-picked sunflowers and weeds and he asked if he could take me out on a date.
