Personal Narrative: Stealing The Ball

My body is thrown across the court like a feather in the wind. Now, you're probably wondering how this could happen. Before this occurred, Harvest was beating my team, Burlington Blast, 31-30. There were 2 minutes left in he fourth quarter. My long blonde ponytail was flying back and forth as I soared down the court breathlessly. Nothing was going to stop me from coming back and winning this game. As the other team was bringing the ball down the court, our coach called a timeout.
“On this play, it is imperative that we steal this ball so we could get a play rolling!” my coach told us.
She then went on to tell us what each of us should be doing in order to steal that ball as soon as possible. My job was to try to deflect the ball so Zoey can

I could see by the way that her brown eyes frantically darted from left to right, that she was anxious and was likely to throw a sloppy pass. Perfect. This was my chance. As I predicted, the girl threw a lob pass right to the person I was guarding. I swiftly moved my body in front of the ball, in a perfect spot to steal it. I was so focused on deflecting the ball, that I didn’t realize that there was an unbalanced girl running at full speed right towards me. “Look out Emily!!” I hear in the distance.
It was too late, and my body was hurled what felt like 30 feet across the court. The wind was knocked out of me, and my finger was throbbing with pain. I could taste blood in my mouth. I looked down and saw that my finger looked very strange and abnormally purple. My teammates came and helped me up. I tried to keep it together and play it off, but the pain was overwhelming. It turns out that the girl had gotten an offensive charge for what she did to me. That meant that I had to shoot free throws. The game was still 31-30 Harvest up and now only one minute in the 4th, so I had a lot of pressure me. “You got it Em,” my teammates said to me as I stepped up to the
