Personal Narrative: Stay In The Car

Improved Essays
It was an ordinary day, as my family and I were heading to Medicine Lake in my dad’s car. I was watching Mobile Suit Gundam on my Zune, when my mom said, “What’s that under that car?” We looked at the car ahead of us and saw something sparkling underneath it. But my dad realized, as he looked closely, that the sparkling was produced by flames, coming from the underside of the car! My dad opened the car window and shouted and honked his horn at the driver of the flaming car to pull over.
My dad pulled over when the other driver did so. He told us, “Stay in the car,” and ran out to grab his fire extinguisher and dash to the flaming car. He was about to prime the fire extinguisher, when he realized it was missing a part. He couldn’t find a way

The fire was growing and it covered most of the car. My mom was about to head to the flaming car, but when she saw the man was only getting out paperwork, she turned back. My dad, however, was screaming his head off at the man. “GET AWAY FROM THE CAR!” he shouted.
When the man finally realized that the flames were getting too high, he slowly shuffled away. He came away from the car miraculously unharmed, but the car itself was not so lucky. The car’s tires were popping like over-inflated balloons, and flames were exploding out of the gas tank like a roman candle. To top it off, someone had called 911, so the driver got a grand finale of his vehicle-turned-bonfire turning into a soggy soon-to-be pile of rust.
It made me grateful that my parents’ car does not have something dragging on the ground, ready to turn our car into an inferno. The biggest reason we don’t have that problem is that my parents maintain our car enough not to have the problem he did. As my mom said, the man looked like he was “an inch from a diabetic coma,” while my parents are healthy, mentally and physically. I realized how fortunate I am that I don’t have to deal with the problem of being stranded far from a town with no

The tires of a slick black car can be seen bulging out from its fender flares, as if they were muscles flexing, as it slowly rolls down the dimly lit street. A thunderous mechanical lope can be heard coming from the car’s engine bay, coupled with a chrome supercharger protruding from the glossy black hood, decaled with a shimmering gold phoenix. The driver’s hands grip the perforated leather wrapped steering wheel, waiting for the traffic light to change. A brilliant green flash illuminates the stoplight and without hesitation the car lets out a deafening roar, engulfing the tail end of the automobile in a gaseous cloud of rubber. After the smoke dissipates, all that can be seen are two obsidian black tire tracks stretching through the intersection, followed by a faint synthetic howl which trails off in the distance.…
