I felt the walls caving in. It was February of junior year, my grades were falling, my friends were disappearing, and I was struggling to find a prom date. I was at a dead end, I needed to change direction but there was nowhere to go. I decided to create a path. It started with a notebook, and continues on to this moment. I wrote a few words, paused, considered stopping. I doubted a notebook could help me. Something pushed me to finish. I posed a question, “Why am I writing in here?” The answer came quickly, “Problems,” it was simple, yet perfect. A blur of words began to fill the pages, each question progressed upon the previous answer, each problem had a solution. “You cheated”, slipped from my mouth. I was referring to my English Class. Frustration, filled my voice as I was disappointed in myself because I received a B. In my life I have only ever got one B and for reasons beyond my control and to complex to be explained. However, this B feels like my first real B. It resembles the first course that has ever conquered me. The whole time I have been striving to get A’s not for my gpa but for myself because it was something attainable that I was certain I could accomplish and that seemed to solely rest upon me.…

Failure has always been a huge aspect in my life recurring in everything I indulge myself in; whether it be academically, athletically, or even Boy Scouts. I tend to have a knack for challenging myself till I am unable to complete the task given to me, whilst this could be good in some ways it also puts me in some not favorable situations. More recently I had the thought of completing a bike race , after receiving medical attention for a concussion and a broken collarbone. This was not necessarily the smartest decision on my part, especially since the race was longer than I have ever raced before and also a three day event.…

At The Disco from their song This is Gospel is very important to me because it’s like saying no matter how hard you push and pull on me I won’t give up and that’s really encouraging to me. The way I can apply it to my life is I was bullied, cursed at, and yelled at all throughout middle school by other students and no matter how hard I wanted to give up and just crawl into bed and say “No, go away.”…

In a game of failure, it’s only expected that failure would be around each corner. Every pitcher has a bad start, from Clayton Kershaw to a pitcher trying to make a level three team, I have found myself in this exact situation several times. At Lakewood High School around midsummer I was scheduled to pitch against one of the best teams we would see all season. This was Team Colorado. Not only was each pitch laboured but my arm was sore and my legs were weak.…

I had some different ideas about what to write in my narrative essay. The main topic that illustrate me its “out of negative experiences, good things can happen”. I had some negative experiences over the years and that had positive outcomes. For example hating my job, unhealthy relationships, trying to please people, and letting others decide things for me. Hating my job would be mostly be about how much time it demanded from me that I turned in late work to my teachers but show me that what I was doing was making people smile.…
