Theatre has been my home in high school. It was where I finally made great friends after after my painstakingly lonely and isolated middle school years, and it was the place where I felt like I was collaborating to create something real and important. Because of this, when I became a junior, I decided to run for the Iowa Thespian Student Board. Now, being on this board is like achieving immortality for theatre kids across the state of Iowa. After failing at this, my family and friends would still love me, none of my past accomplishments would become void, and I would be the same person I was before. Failing at this did not make me a failure, just as succeeding at it would not have made me a success. Furthermore, all my previous failures led me to be a person who was able to succeed later. I am a combination of my failures, my successes, and everything inbetween, and I am still learning to accept and embrace this, but I’m in the long haul process of getting
