“Good. How was work?”
“Amazing. Guess who came in to get their hair done for tonight’s concert?” I think, tonight’s concert...“Beyonce?! She came in and got her hair done? By you?” I am absolutely in love with Beyonce. I was kind of upset when I couldn’t afford to make it to tonight’s concert. I need somewhere else to work other than Star's Cleaners and Coffee House. “Yes, ma’am!” She said, noticing the sad look on my face, “Hey, I know you wanted to go but you have to work for things.”
“I know mom…”
“Well, I’ll let it slide this time. At her appointment, she said she has some extra VIP …show more content…
My mom leans in for a hug. “Sorry about last night, it's been tough at work and with your father gone. It’s hard to be able to keep up. He’ll be back soon, though.” She says pulling the “I’m so sorry I was a bad mom” look. For whatever reason, whenever this happens it makes somehow always cry. It’s just the way she makes me feel. The way she slices through my head like I'm an apple. The words she uses against me. The mistakes I make and acts like I killed someone she loves. “It’s okay mom, I forgive you,” I say this because I know if I say something else. It would be just like last night. “Thanks, honey. Why don’t you go to your room and call Tessa and Rylie about tonight?” She says releasing her hug. “Okay. We're in a group call with each other. “Hey!” I say ready to release the good news. “Hey, Cass!” They say in almost unison. “What are you guys doing tonight?” Tessa says, “Nothing much, what about you Rylie?” I say. Rylie always has something going on but tonight, it works perfectly. “Nothing actually. Just reading the book Mr. Waty assigned us.” Oh, this is perfect! I say, “ Do you guys like Beyonce?” knowing that they do because we are a best friend trio. “Um, that's a dumb question, I freaking love Beyonce.” Rylie says Tessa says “Same!” Here I go, “Would you two like to go to her concert tonight with me? Front row seats, and Meet and Greet.” Tessa and Rylie say again, in unison. “OH MY GOD! BEYONCE? JEEZ CASSIE WHERE DID YOU GET THE TICKETS? OH MY GOSH I CAN’T WAIT TO GO!” I am grinning to the phone because I love making people happy. “While my mom was at work, Beyonce came to Harper's Salon and asked her to do her hair for tonight's concert, and then she told my mom how she has 3 extra VIP tickets, if she wanted them, that involve meet and greet.” Tessa says, “WOW. That’s great! I’m going to go ask my parents.” Rylie says, “Same.” I sit patiently waiting for the “I can go” from Tessa and Rylie. I can hear someone running up the stairs on the phone when Tessa says, “I can go!” and Rylie follows with “Same here!” I say “Yay! I’ll pick you guys up at 7:00. We’ll go get dinner and then drive to the
