In both Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Star Wars our protagonists Harry Potter and Luke Skywalker can each be considered a “chosen one” due to their characterizations. Each creator has followed a similar framework that structures their emergence to becoming a chosen one which results in noticeable parallels between the two. Neither of the boys have a comprehensive understanding of their own history, as they are both considered orphans who were raised by extended family, they also are exposed to a new community which allows them to learn new skills, as in the Jedi’s/ The Force and the wizarding world, and finally, they also deal with the situation they are faced with is a similar manner, the conflict presents itself to them and they act out of duty not in search of glory. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Star Wars begin with the showing the consumer what life was like for Harry and Luke before they are faced with their respective tasks of saving the world.…
In LEGO’s early days, LEGO was meant to be a toy that inspired children’s creativity. You poured a bucket of bricks onto the carpet and began building what your heart desired. The question I’ve come to ask myself is, has LEGO lost its creative nature? As I saw The LEGO Movie, I began to find it ironic how LEGO contradicted its current modern standing. Contrary to its early days, LEGO sells all if not most of its products as sets.…
Question 6 During my volunteer work at Cornerstone Ranch and Rescue, I learned that physics could be applied to any aspect of everyday life. This has helped me solidify my understanding of physics and eager to learn more. The realization of how physics is everywhere has sparked my interest to want to learn more physics in order to get a better understanding of how and why the world works the way it does. The property owner related many concepts of horseback riding and ranch work with physics-related ideas so that I could relate them to a science-based mindset.…
One of the earliest memory I have as a child was seeing Beauty and the Beast for the first time. That, for whatever reason, enchanted me. It was then I decided that I wanted to be an artist in some way, shape or form. I originally wanted to be a Disney animator because my affinity for drawing. I remember that I would recreate Glen Keane's animation in "The Little Mermaid" and I would, as hard as possible, to imitate his and many of the Disney artists' drawing styles.…
There are many genetic traits out there in the world, but if I could only have one that I could pass down to future generations, it would be The Force from Star Wars. I would want to have The Force because I would be able to read and control everyone's mind, and I would be able to move objects, no matter how big or small. I could, dare I say it, rule the world. I would be able to save people with the Force and help prevent future attacks from occuring. I could also help the government by getting involved with the CIA, and by using my special abilities, I could search for terrorists and fugitives that have escaped.…
Three years later, I was introduced to the “Force” and launched into a Galactic civil war on the silver screen. Star Wars was the beginning of a series of multiple movies, which continues to be very popular with audiences today. In fact the latest installment “The Last Jedi” is being released on Dec 15. Star Wars brought us into a new world of ideas, characters, and computer-generated effects. We discovered the lightsaber.…

Good evening Diary, As I am writing to you, everyone is circling around the hobbit. They are all extremely curious about his ability to turn invisible. “They had to have the whole vanishing business carefully explained, and the finding of the ring interested them so much that for a while they forgot their own troubles. Balin in particular insisted on having the Gollum story, riddles and all, told all over again, with the ring in its proper place.” We are all grateful to him for we would have been goners if it were not for him.…
Why not design a serious toys or products that children can build up complex structures without supervision? I realize that I can combine my experience as both designer and educator to make Kids Architect into my own bussiness, which focus on educational design products and design courses for…
A girl at school once asked me, “How are you in this constant state of reading?” I laughed because the answer is simple: I love to read. I chose books as a symbol because reading and literature is very important to my culture and my family. When my father was young, his grandmother used to read to him every day, and my father did the same for my siblings and I. Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to read, and I own many books that I keep on shelves.…
My outlet for creation is computer programming. When I discovered what was possible through programming, I knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. As a kid I would take apart my toys to learn how they work. Once I understood the inner workings, I would take parts out and use the pieces to build my own contraptions.…
Introduction Lego is a toy-making company founded in Billund, Denmark (LEGO 2014). In this essay, Lego’s value and core competencies will be identified based on the PEST analysis, Porter’s Five Forces and the Value Chain Analysis. PEST Analysis Political Government policies affecting a reduction in the corporate tax level, or an increase in import taxes in developing economies, will have an impact on the Lego Group due to the wide distribution of products to more than 130 countries (LEGO 2014). Furthermore, safety-related legislations for toys in different countries require Lego to comply and adhere to these strict requirements. Economic Shifts in the macroeconomic conditions can critically affect Lego’s sales, as an increase in disposable…
One of modern society’s favourite pastimes is watching and comparing films. Films have the ability to make us laugh, cry, or even think while touching our hearts no matter what the genre is. Contemporary media genres have dramatically changed since classical literary times, which divided theatrical and literature into groups of drama and comedy, giving birth to genres. Films have become difficult to place into a specific genre, as “any theme may appear in any genre” (Chandler 1997, p. 1) resulting in genres blending continuously. For example, a Science Fiction (Sci-Fi) film is classified in that genre due to its situational context and fundamental plot, though, Sci-Fi films may also be categorised into genres such as horror (Aliens), comedy…
Around the age of 12 or 13, my social initiative to play with Legos was gone, as was my desire to wake up at 5 a.m. to do so. But Legos will still always have a place in my heart. I can’t honestly say that I don’t miss those little plastic bricks. My younger brother plays with them now, and every once in awhile, I wish I could too. Speaking of my brother; watching how those affect his life has been rather fun.…
After binge watching the Harry Potter movie series, I've decided to live a life, or even a couple lives if there is a need to complete my full exploration of the world. It's really been likeable so far, and I could experience the whole world while reading the books too! But I do truly wonder whether or not I should live multiple lives there. Another thing is, I wonder whether or not I should become Harry Potter or become a side character and become part of the lore as a wizard more powerful than Merlin himself, or even Albus Dumbledore but from research and things alike, I think Albus was more powerful than Merlin. But I could totally be wrong.…
