Personal Narrative: Splat

Decent Essays
The day started early with me cutting out words for a game that I was going to be in charge of. The game I was in charge was called SPLAT and it was where you two of the same words written on a poster and then you had two of those words in a pile and you said the word and the student would then hit the word with a fly swatter that said SPLAT on it. The children loved the game. I then made it even more fun by making up different parts to make the game more interesting. I played the game with three different groups I didn’t get to do it with the last group which was okay. The children that I did get to play it loved it. The time seemed to fly by and before I knew it time was up and I ended the day off with watching the students playing BINGO

Faith is the belief in something greater than us one can put full trust, confidence, and reliance on when difficult times arise. I was raised to be involved with church activities to maintain my spiritual life; additionally my faith grew dramatically when my cousin deceased and gave me an overview of what I wanted to pursue my career as. When I was a child, my parents encouraged me to always be as loving and caring as I could be, not for personal gain, but to be benevolent to the people around me. I was raised with two loving parents, Mario and Rebeca, along with a younger brother, Mario and older sister, Ana.…

I sat there in the hard seat of my desk and waited patiently. The scent of Lysol was overwhelmingly powerful in the room, but I knew by the third week it would be overpowered by the smell of musty children and chalk dust. I could not wait for my new teacher to saunter up to me, eyes full of admiration, and give me my paper. I had worked hard on it for nearly two months during the summer prior to this new school year. Looking around the room at my new classmates, it was easy to tell who had done the summer assignments, especially with their conspicuous faces.…

Time stands still, frozen like New York in the wintertime. And all I can hear is the fast da dum da dum of my palpitating heart. Adrenaline spikes in waves through my clammy body. I look straight at the brown wooden door in front of me and pretend it is the audience. Taking a deep breath of the musky air, I envision myself bold and confident.…

A talent that sets me apart from other students and makes me unique is my ability to spell. I’ve been studying words since I was eight-years-old, and it has benefited me greatly in all aspects of life. In this essay, I will take you on my journey of how I started spelling and the accomplishments I earned along the way. When I was in the third grade, my teacher needed one more person for the class spelling bee. Although I didn’t care much about it, I thought it might be a fun activity.…

All my life I’ve struggled with not feeling fulfilled in Loveland, Colorado. I never feel truly inspired, motivated, or happy. Driving down 29th street for what feels like the 29th time that day, I look at the McDonald’s I’ve ate at since childhood, I watch all the less than intereging Honda Civics and Ford Tauruses everyone in Northern Colorado seems to drive, and I look at the drab Loveland High School building and I’m reminded of how much I hate everything it holds. Everything I see, I feel like I’ve seen it before…

Growing up near the creek with my family and a old couple living right next to us was a memorable stage in my life, i’ll never forget it. They were never creepy or mysterious, they were just very odd. We all knew they were obviously hiding something in there barn. Me and my siblings always wanted to go over there, because Mr. Martin was always in there, walking from the barn to the house , so we wanted to see the animals. The only problem was they keep in under lock and key and their only window was blacked-out.…

When I was younger, I got to know myself better through performing for others. Participating in dramas really brought out my theatrical side. About ten years ago, when I was seven, my siblings and I were part of a performing arts program called Divine Current Anointed Flow, or D.C.A.F. for short. I was excited to start our performance that day for I had watched my older siblings participate in this event before…

As we walked home, I recounted my realistic nightmare to Grayson, who listened with attentive ears. “And that was when I woke up,” I finished off the retelling as we opened the front door to our house.
