The only sounds radiating from the nearly empty gym court were the dribbling of a ball against the hard wooden floor and the occasional swish or clank of the hoop. Sweat drenched my red shirt, staining it a dark shade of maroon, and the shoelaces of my Nike Air Jordans were becoming undone, but I barely noticed as I continued to practice that Kyrie Irving move I saw during the 2013 All-Star Rookie-Sophomore game: cross between the legs, behind the back, in and out, cross left, step back, and shoot. Nothing but net.
A quick thought crossed my mind. Did I have something important to do soon? Oh yeah, the AIME. My math teacher told me I had studied enough for it, so I should just relax and keep my head clear for the next few days. What better way to do that than shoot some hoops for a couple of hours?

Absolutely zeroed in, I don’t even realize that I’m concentrating; I am so absorbed in what I am doing that I cease to be aware of my actions, yet my body is in perfect motion. I can set up my defender with a chess-like mindset without consciously planning out anything--first move pump fake, next move fadeaway--my mind simply knows what to do. All my practice has culminated at that point. And those days where you just can’t miss; man, there is nothing more exhilarating. When you’re shooting with perfect form every time, the sensation feels like the most natural thing you could do, as if you were born to do this. You pull up from 3-4 feet behind the arc, the ball goes through without even touching the rim and the most invigorating part is that you knew the shot was good the second it left your
