Personal Narrative: Socratic Seminar In LA

This week was fun for me because I made the soccer team and we had a fun week of practices. We had much less homework this week than the previous week which was very fortunate because my brother and I had their grade’s curriculum nights so I was not getting home until eight thirty. There were three quizzes/tests this week which was a little rough but I think I got through them well. I thought that the Socratic seminar in LA was a little bit of a dud because

This week was the best week I had all semester. It was a glorious week for me, to say the least. I was able to finish the written assignment, study hard for my quiz, and also be able to get an awesome grade for my quiz. I thoroughly enjoyed this week. First of all, for the reading assignment, I had to read section 8.1 called, "System of Linear Equations: Gausssian Elimination".…

Will probably not want to pursue any kind of job in this of work. Even though the opportunities seem interesting, the money was with my interest. I would not want to take a different direction that I am already headed.…

This week was primarily all dedicated to our prototype projects. Besides doing two math quizzes, we worked on our projects all week! On monday some staff from Telus Spark came into the class and talked with everyone individually about their project and offered some very valuable feedback. However I was feeling under the weather so I was unable to attend this. But I am very lucky as my partner was able to talk to the people on my behalf as well.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

I wrote a book. One, where if it were a movie I would not be old enough to watch it without an adult. No, you can not buy it at Barnes & Nobles or your local bookstore or anywhere books are sold. But I would gladly give you a printed 8 x 11, arial, black and white, 5 font size, unstapled copy in exchange for a Jackson. A little more if you want it signed.…

The Awakening Challenging, demanding, dynamic, and unpredictable were all words that describe Dr. Powell, my Sophomore English teacher. Her rigorous teaching style left me with unrelenting anxiety. I feared that I would not meet my own high expectations in her class. Eventually, the fear that consumed me dispelled; I became used to her unpredictable style and started to feed off of and crave the challenge her class provided. She unearthed a side of me I never knew I possessed.…

This week has been a crazy one! But the broadness of the Telus Spark project is starting to narrow and things are falling into place. We started working on unit one in math which I did find confusing, but I am slowly starting to get my head wrapped around it. For social, I started learning about individual and collective identities as well. Things are starting to pick up in our classed now and even though somethings are harder than the others it was not a bad week.…

What I Learned In Mrs. Hoffman’s Class You don’t realize how much of your childhood you spend in school. When you're a kid it seems that all you do is get up every morning to get on that yellow school bus that comes to your house every morning. There is something about the sound of a school bus stopping on the blacktop. Elementary school was the all the same every year I got a new teacher that was the person who taught me for the whole year;right up until the faith last day of school when the teachers would bring the creaky old cart full of board games and cards.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

The Monster Okay, so you know how no one wants to get some holes ripped in their mouth because they can’t eat anything good except for like ice cream? And wisdom teeth in general just suck and fuck up your mouth by coming in like sideways and shit causing infections and overbite like a bulldog or whatever and just altogether wasting all that time and money and effort – not to mention all the endured humiliation from sneers like ‘brace-face’ – which the braces did to make your smile attractive? We have all seen those videos online where kids get taped by their parents saying the stupidest shit while under the influence of those narcotics after surgery.…
