While I was maintaining my own individuality and self-esteem, my family couldn’t oppose anything that violates our values and mores we hold. For me, it was totally normal to have my own ideas and thoughts but my parents had difficult time adjusting as I changed. Like most of the families, it caused a lot of disputes as I felt my parents don’t respect my decision and for them, I was a child who they used to decide everything and I didn’t mind. As I am over my teenage, I slowly started to accept my parent’s identity. At the end, I feel they are right and they have been once in their teen life, therefore, they can relate things in life. Similarly, those teachers who use authoritarian approach might use loud voice and show strictness to their students while democratic approach would use democratic environment allowing students to engage freely. The pros of having autocratic family are parents know what is best for their kids. The kids will have good reading, science and math’s standards. Authoritarian parenting helps shaping their children to be disciplined and responsible citizens. The cons of authoritarian family are children who are pressured by parents to have excellent grades will hate school. They will undergo psychological problems such as depression, anxiety. Children lacks creativity and imagination. However, democratic parenting helps in psychological development of children. Children feel free to communicate the ideas and feelings with the parents.
