Smashed like a Bug
It was the beginning of January and the snow had started the day before, It snowed all day all night and stopped early in the morning. As we prepped are sleds for the day that was about to begin we held our hot chocolate with cold little hands thinking about how the day would begin. I got into the car with my step sister and brother named Clara and Truman. Clara was older by one year and Truman was younger than one year. We loved to go sledding because it was fun and we had tricks up our sleeves to make it even better. “Throwing Down The Gauntlet On My Life” I’m a junior at Presbyterian Pan American School. I was born in Brownsville, Texas, but since my parents are Mexican nationals, I grew up in San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico. In 2013, my parents told me to “pack your bags” you are going to Kingsville, Texas. I came to Texas three years ago to attend Presbyterian Pan American School (PPAS), a senior private boarding school in Kingsville, Texas, on an academic scholarship. During the hike I thought a lot about my summer reading, but sadly it didn't help me face the monster... During July of 2015 I was reading Into Thin Air while driving down south. While there, my family went on a hike that was on a smaller scale of Everest, but still gave me many lessons to take away from it. It was a short but scenic drive from the place we were staying to the long, treacherous trail. My brother and I started walking at a faster pace than our parents so we arrived at the first obstacle before our parents.…

What Was I Doing I woke up at eight o’clock in the morning like any other day. I got out of the bed and pulled open the curtains to see what a beautiful day it was outside. The sky was crystal blue; the sun was shining, with a slight breeze. I could not have asked for a more perfect day. I went to the kitchen poured a glass of orange juice; and made some bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast.…
