Personal Narrative: Small Town Ukiah, California

Improved Essays
I am Azure Kennedy. I am eighteen years old and I am an only child. I grew up in a really small-town Ukiah, California and have lived there with my parents my entire life. I am so thankful to have grown up in without a doubt one of the most beautiful states in America. I lived an hour from the beach and an hour from the city. That right there explains my relationship with where I want to live someday. I want to live somewhere that is in the city but I can escape to the beach easily. To be honest if one would have asked me a year ago I would have laughed if I would have known I was going to be living in Tucson. I had my heart set on multiple California schools. However, I did not get into my top schools. The funny thing is, is I am thankful it happened. …show more content…
I visited my cousin here when I was thirteen just entering high school. I ended up loving the area unlike most people. Then I ended up loving the campus which was a slight shock. When people say that eventually everything falls into place I would have disagreed a year or two ago, but now I agree completely. The major that I love and am in is at no other school. The weather I did not know I even wanted and love is at this school. I did not really seek out or choose the school but thank god that it fell into place and chose me. It is hard because free time is kind of a rarity in my life now as well as before. I work, am involved in a sorority, love to socialize, and have a difficult schedule for school. If I had to pick one hobby aside from hanging out with friends I love to keep up on fashion. I do pay a lot for this school because they have amazing and useful resources. I hope that this class can not only teach me how to get the best experience out of the school and all it has to offer but I want to also learn how to get the best experience out of my

Well it has been almost 4 months that I have been attending Roanoke Valley Early College. I love it here and I don’t see how anyone couldn’t. So far I have learned a lot about school. By taking time to observe my surroundings and everyone around me, I have learned that everyone in high school is not your friend and that I am learning how to sense a bad vibe before I let anyone get too close to me. RVEC is the only school that has taught me that all teachers are not these people that hate their job because the teachers here including the ones I don’t take yet are always showing us that they really want to be there and help us and teach us.…

Growing up in the Valleys of Reno Nevada the weather can be unexpected and terrible from the summer rainstorms to the whiteout winter in five feet of snow. There are a lot of power outages that I have encountered, knowing how to start a fire and get some kind of heat and light was imperative to my family. My mom was always prepared. On the counter top in the corner of our bathroom always sat a dusty odd looking glass kerosene lamp that was always topped off with smelly kerosene.…

Sacramento has always felt like home to me, I grew up about twenty miles away from Sacramento in a small town called Woodland. Having spent the majority of my life either in or right next to it, I feel like I have a lot to gain from a school quarter spent interning there. Although moving for a school quarter may be difficult, I have adapted well to Irvine while living independently so I believe I will be able to do the same in Sacramento. Most importantly, I hope this experience challenges me. Throughout my schooling, I have always taken a larger class load with challenging classes to fill this criterion, while maintaining a 4.00 GPA, and now that my major coursework is over I hope to gain some real-world experience that fills this role.…

A baby blue Austin Metro pulls up to the local police station. The blue blends in perfectly with the chilly hues of that winter morning. An olive skinned young girl climbs out of the front seat. Although I have only been attending UConn for almost three months now, these past months have been the most eventful, life-changing, and longest days of my 18 years. My perception of college has completely transformed since I have been attending. Even though it is a lot different from high school and what the brochures would picture, it is still definitely one of the best decisions that I have made in a while. There were many factors that played a huge role in my decision to attend a university in the first place. The main ones being my parents and the simple fact that they migrated our entire family to America just for better opportunities such as a four year higher education.…
