Personal Narrative: Skyrush

Improved Essays
I remember the gut wrenching feeling in my stomach as my best friend and I approached the tallest and fastest roller coaster at Hershey Park, called SkyRush. I am not sure why I agreed to go on this roller coaster, considering most of the time at amusement parks I entertain myself with food, and miniature rides that stay level to the ground. Unlike me, my friend liked the rush and heart dropping feeling of being at the apex of a roller coaster and then dropping down at maximum speed. Personally, I preferred the ground, where I remained in full control of my own safety. Yet that afternoon I found myself standing in line for SkyRush. I had done more praying in those 30 minutes waiting on line than most preachers during three services of Sunday

A few years ago, on a class trip, my friends had asked me to ride at least one roller coaster. It was not a large roller coaster, but it made me queasy just looking at it. I was confident that I would be able to go on and enjoy the experience. My confidence quickly evaporated when we began climbing up the roller coaster’s first hill. The ride dropped, and I was screaming so loudly that I could only hear myself.…

The Crevasse “Adversity is the source of our deepest growth and greatest blessings; embrace it, dare to seek It,” that was a quote from Aron Ralston, who fell down a crevasse and his arm was wedged under a rock, which inspired the movie “127 Hours.” One day I was going to the creek with my friends, Matthew and Kendal, to hang out. We had this amazing spot that had a bridge that we made and everything. We were bringing further supplies to add on to the spot and make it look more visually appealing. When we arrived at the park we brought all of the supplies down under a bridge.…

We sat down in the corner and talked more while we ate. Soon, a friend that I made, Skylar, had to return to a hotel that her dad was staying in since she wasn’t allowed to camp that night. Her dad came to the corner to pick her up and unexpectedly handed me a full pizza pie for everyone to share while Skylar was gone. The night went on, and the musical artist named Drake was playing a show at The Garden that evening.…

Over the years and years spent on studying mythology, Joseph Campbell came up with the concept of The Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey states that all hero’s travel in a similar path and go through many similar stages that’ll lead them to their reward. However, not every hero’s journey has to involve obstacles as in slaying a dragon or trying to save the world. In my case, I had to do nothing but trying to make it through sixth grade year. Sadly, sixth grade was the year that I faced the most challenges, real world challenges at least.…

The immeasurable space surrounding the Coruscant-Metello trade route was just as busy as it usually was. All things considered, no irregularities usually appeared on the route, yet the regular inhabitants tasked with exploring barely bat an eye, regardless of a few ships coming from the distant core worlds. Presently, peculiar for a brief time, the deep chasm of space gave way for the hull of a small republic transporter just above the expansive orbit of the planet; jumping out of hyperspace for the last of its journey. As if on cue, passengers stood to revel at the sight of the thriving planet of Coruscant, dedicating their time to a period of awe while the view of the planet shifted just out of their sight.…

Parachute’s Descent A rapid snap of wrists attached to chubby, stout arms thrashed downward and rippled the colorful, circular sheet in front of us. The sheet wrestled with the hot, stagnant air and produced bursts of wind that bounced off the walls of my elementary school gym. Looking around, twenty-six six year old faces blurred together. The grinning faces morphed together to form a fleshy, monochrome background contrasting to what I was concentrated on.…

Seven years ago, my friends and I went to an amusement park and like any other young child, I couldn’t wait to ride every single rollercoaster there was. I loved each one, irrespective of the number of loops it had or how fast it went. However, this changed when I got on one called the drop-tower. As the name suggests, it was a monstrous tower that carries riders up in a gondola to the top of the tower and then suddenly the gondola drops down. In seconds, it dropped me 100 feet down in the air, as I heard the echoes of a hundred-people screaming.…
