Personal Narrative: Skiing Down The Mountains Of Mission Ridge

Improved Essays
As we drove away, I looked back with tears in my eyes and pain deep down in my heart. I knew that where we were going was far away from my hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. I never thought that I would be feeling this kind of anguish as a 6-year old. Since that day I haven’t seen or spoken to my dad, nor do I want to. Moving away changed my life and it made me the person I am today. I grew into an independent, responsible, and empathetic young woman. When we moved to Chelan I met a lot of new people including Chuck. He introduced me to my happy place and helped me find my escape from all the negative feelings in my life. Skiing down the mountains of Mission Ridge with my favorite tunes playing is my escape. The best feeling in the world is the …show more content…
We arrived at my aunt’s house after the long drive from Las Vegas, Nevada to Chelan,
Washington. I kept reminding myself that if my mom was happy, my two brothers and I should also be happy. So I just sat there on my aunts couch exhausted, wanting to go back home, my real home in Las
Vegas. Ever since that day I’ve been a completely different person. I learned to be independent because our dad wasn’t there to help out my mom with my two brothers and me. This change made me responsible because I realized that my mom doesn’t need to be holding my hand making sure I finished my school work. After all that I went through, it helped me relate to others in similar situations.
The first time I went skiing, it took me about two hours to go down the mountain. I was scared out of my mind and wanted to quit, but I didn’t. Now being on the ski slope is my favorite place to be. As
I ride up chair two with my brother and our two friends, I can’t wait to get to the top and look at the beautiful view before racing my brother to the bottom. I love the way the trees look on the top of the mountain. They remind me of giant cauliflowers from all the snow piled up weighing down the

Your peripheral vision is gone—there’s complete focus, then a silence so muted that all you know is the feeling of your heart beating. Then, as you stand there motionless, you feel the adrenaline. I mean really feel it—a syrup coursing through your veins, yet not a syrup as it moves faster than blood. You know when it hits your heart because it starts beating faster, faster, faster, and then the feeling is gone. Then everything is gone—emotions, breath, sensation……

Journal Entry I decided to go and visit the Rainbow Falls Provincial Park because it seemed so unique and attractive. Cranberry juice & Cinnamon rolls Cranberry juice is just juice. Cinnamon rolls are just a delicious breakfast food, to some people. For me, it’s a walk up the stairs, smelling the icing melt inside the oven, wearing strawberry shortcake pajamas, and listening to Roger Rabbit playing in the distance. Walking upstairs with my small feet stomping on the cold hardwood floors. Watching my grandma take the cinnamon rolls out of the oven and putting them in a baby blue plate, she puts them on the center of the table.…

There are no trails in Florida that will adequately prepare you for the Appalachian Trail. Not just the difficulties, but the beauty as well. When I made the decision to do a section hike with my friend Brian, I had a vague idea that it would be difficult and rewarding, but I had no idea just how much of an understatement that was. The first day began with a shuttle ride to our start point, thirty-five miles from Hot Springs, North Carolina, where we'd left our car.…

A turning point is something that changes either your character (who you are), how you live your life, or both. Downhill skiing has been a turning point for me in my life. To truly understand the joy of skiing, you must feel the connections to everything around you. From your body to the skis, from the skis to the snow and ice, from the icy snow to the ground, you must feel and connect through all of it. That is when you can finally understand the freedom gliding through and on the snow brings.…

Skiing is a sport that requires determination, toughness, and good physical fitness. It is the one thing that I look forward to all year (other than cross country). My dad was the one that taught me to ski; he had been a ski instructor for ten years before and after college. I began skiing when I was only two years old. At that time, my dad would put me on a ski leash so that I couldn’t get too far away from him and crash.…
