Skid
My heart suddenly started racing when I watched the driver in front of us drive off of the hill, into the tree, and then in the creek. It felt unreal, as if I were in a movie. Then I knew just one of many consequences of drunk driving, your own life. My six year old brother was freaking out and was completely clueless of what was going on. My dad couldn’t believe it either. Without thinking twice, he parked to the side of the road and jumped into the creek to save him before going away forever. We were finally finished with my brothers soccer practice after dreading in the sun for two hours. We were exhausted. We were ready to have a soothing drive back to Angels Camp. Then, BAM! Dust filled the air as it happened. The driver in front

I'm going to tell you about the time I totaled my first truck. It was not a fun experience all the questions and talking to the cops it was not fun. Anyways how it happens is pretty simple I was just driving home from work all is well. Until I see a massive muddy area on the road ahead and knowing my luck it just happens to go right onto a bridge that goes over a creek. I was driving a 1999 Ford F150 extended cab four wheel drive.…

After being at school for what seemed like forever, I put on my boots and headed to the ski lift as I looked at the snow glow in the cold February sun. As I waited in line, John was grabbing ice balls the size of my hand, then throwing them at my back. Without anything to throw back him, I felt as helpless as an amputee in a war-zone. Even though Jack was next to me checking my ticket, he did not seem to care that someone was throwing ice balls at me. He didn’t even care to look at my lift ticket which explains how I got on the lift.…

Connection to Self: Tears of a Tiger I can relate the situation from the novel Tears of a Tiger to my own life. In the novel the group of four boys( Robert Washington, Andrew Jackson, B.J. Carson, and Tyron Wills) crashed a car into a retaining wall which then burst into flames and exploded killing one of the boys. On page one it states the vehicle “had been noticeably weaving across the lanes of the expressway just before it hit a retaining wall and burst into flames.”…

When I came back up, I grabbed onto that tree truck and remembered thinking that “I can really die any minute now”. My muscles were getting really stiff and I could hardly breathe. I knew at that point, that if I did not get out of my waders soon I may not make it. Since I had veered off out further and to the right of the blind, it was about twice the walk distance in order to get…

During the hike I thought a lot about my summer reading, but sadly it didn't help me face the monster... During July of 2015 I was reading Into Thin Air while driving down south. While there, my family went on a hike that was on a smaller scale of Everest, but still gave me many lessons to take away from it. It was a short but scenic drive from the place we were staying to the long, treacherous trail. My brother and I started walking at a faster pace than our parents so we arrived at the first obstacle before our parents.…

The sudden light still blinded me, so I moved my hand to rub my eyes when my arm knocked into the steering wheel, tipping it over. The car careened to the right as I grabbed the wheel and turned left furiously. The two back wheels slid into a puddle and the back of the car hit a lamppost. My head slammed into the side of the car. Then,…

This past nine weeks has definitely been a roller coaster. I’ve definitely cracked down more on myself and I’ve learned a lot of things in this time period. I think it really comes down to what I did to do well, the criticism I received on subjects that need tweaking, and occurrences that withhold me from getting the one. In my qualifying events (DI, POI), I seriously tried my hardest to practice and I know that I could’ve done even better.…

I looked up to my left and saw a guard rail with a river behind it, the car was heading towards it. My sister took control of the wheel and steered us the best she could towards the ditch. It was all green everywhere as the rear of the car hit the ditch first and spun us around, sending the front hitting the ditch as well. We spun around one more time, completing two 360’s. It might have been the wrong thought, but I was thinking about the airbags deploying at top speed, knocking us in the face, and injuring…
