A time that stands out to me would be singing my first Aria. Taking the initiative towards something I rarely knew anything about caused me to be afraid. Something that is very challenging, and different from theater, and specific, but so rewarding. When I sang that for an audience, I felt like I was right where I was supposed to be. This song took a lot of hard work. I had never sung in Italian before, or even spoken the language. The extensive use of the vowels definitely helped, but it required of me to translate what the words meant so I knew what I was singing. The vast spectrum of knowledge, skills obtained, and experiences from a college degree more than compensates for the monetary cost of tuition. Creating art is my passion; I have always wanted to become a great artist ever since I was a child drawing on my walls and copying pictures from books. I have devoted my life to improving my talents by illustrating my own stories, practicing drawing daily, and challenging myself to earning my own money doing what I love by drawing commissions. Learning how to communicate through illustration is a valuable skill that will live with me for the rest of my life and progressing my artist career.…

Every since 7th grade I was in ABC. ABC is an advance class of orchestra where we play anything but classical music, hence the name. ABC was a class that started before school, and anyone who was in 7th or 8th grade could join. Usually our orchestra teacher was Mr. Hudson but the teacher for ABC was Mrs. Dykman. ABC music in middle school is meant to be harder and faster but at the time the music seemed easier and I was ready for a challenge.…

Why I Sing Chaeley Winkler I cannot remember a time when I wasn’t singing. Of course, I know there was time before I could speak or burble as infants do, so there must have existed a certain silence before sound, however the mere thought of being so silent—unable to reach out with voice or touch—disturbs me to no end. But these thoughts of a time before sound hadn’t quite crossed my mind until I began to question the finer, tinier oddities in my life. These questions emerged at around the age of seven, before they had manifested as inner thoughts.…

Literacy Narrative For weeks I spent multiple hours continuously listening to songs of different genres trying to find one that meant a lot to me. Well I continued to have lingering thoughts of this being my last choir concert, I finally came across a song that really stood out to me. The lyrics really did not relate to how my life tended to be, so the next day I went to school to ask my choir instructor if I could possibly transform the lyrics of the song so it would be more personal to my father and I. Once I got the approval from my teacher, it took quite some time to replace the unwanted lyrics in the song with words that would be more meaningful to me.…

It was going to be incredibly hard for me, but I took a deep breath and sat down in my seat. I had felt an uneasy feeling in the air as we took off towards my painful, hard, and exhausting running experience that I will always remember.…
