I find Spelling to be my worst subject and truly feel I will never enjoy spelling. I remember sitting in my classroom hearing the words, causing me to recite the word over and over in my head. I would attempt to sound out the words slowly, jotting down the syllables, and I recited it again. To this day I cannot spell words correctly, all I can say it “Thank you for spell check.” Three years of struggling with spelling and reading resulted in my teacher recommending some education testing be completed. At that time, I was diagnostic with a processing disorder, for this reason placing me on an IEP (Individual Education Plan). Years of struggling with spelling and fighting with my mom over the words, I found some skills that helped me do better on the tests. To begin with I would copy the words over and over in my own penmanship. Secondly, I repeated each word slowly as I wrote them down on paper.
