As I begin my college career there are many things I need to get done to reach my goals. Since I was 10 years old I’ve always wanted to help others hence, medicine and specifically nursing has always been my number one goal. As I start my first semester my main priority is to not only pass all my classes with A’s and B’s but also, learn to my greatest ability. As a freshman it’s my responsibility to strive for success. One organization that caught my eye is the Dr. Miami Club. This is a club that I believe would be really helpful for my career. In order to accomplish all my short term goals for this fall semester I will work and complete all assignments weeks before they are due. National Honor Society (NHS) is built upon four key values (scholarship, character, leadership, and service), and I think that I exemplify all four of these values, as I show them through my contribution to the club now and as I will show them through my future officer position of secretary; due to the fact that I exhibit these qualities, I will also be able to leave NHS better than I found when I leave the club in the future. NHS has offered lots of service opportunities since I have joined the club, and it offers a challenging experience for the top students in the sophomore through senior classes; fifty hours must be completed by the end of the year for returning members, and fifty hours must be completed by the next school year for new members. The club ultimately instilled in me important and very useful life qualities. The service activities that must be completed improve my work ethic and ability to work in groups with others, and they also help me get involved more with my community. As a future officer, I would be a great example for members because I have all the qualities needed to be a great NHS leader, allowing me to contribute to NHS as much as I can and to also mold future members to be like myself.…

My lifetime goal is to become a successful forensic anthropologist maintaining my connection to music that I currently have. For the past seven years of my life I have been a part of an intense band program while maintaining an AB academic average and that experience, along with my academic experience of taking advanced courses all while staying in touch with the musical side of the world, is what’s going to help me achieve this lifetime goal. Being a part of a rigorous band program where success is all that we strive toward, all the while maintaining suitable grades in my advanced classes is what’s going to give me the foundation to start my life on.…

One of my most distinctive long-term goals that I had was to qualify for our varsity swim and dive team as well as to participate in the state meet as a freshman. Being a nationally accredited team, I understood that if I wanted to achieve my goal, I would have to devote a large amount of my time and effort into my practice schedule. This resulted in multiple practice times, an increased workout schedule and participation in outside service involving the swim and dive team. After school, I would head out to University of Louisville’s natatorium and spend the majority of the day conditioning, warming up dives I have acquired from past practices, and attempt dives that were foreign to me.…
