In my sophomore year of high school, I became the only girl who elected to play ultimate Frisbee during gym. Being the lone female , I came to know some small measure of the isolation faced by women who have blazed the trail into male-dominated institutions. I came to feel an odd obligation to represent my gender as I learned that at least some of my teammates assumed that I am less because I am female.
Though I could throw a frisbee, I semi-jokingly explained to my teammates that I do not mix well with flying discs, especially
