Personal Narrative: Seventh Grade

Improved Essays
Seventh grade has been a mix of amazing and crazy. You might be wondering why I don’t have a chapter for sixth grade. In fifth grade, I had expressed how I felt bored and that school work was too easy. My mother took this into account. She talked about it at conferences with my fifth grade homebase, Mrs. Breza. Then, my mom introduced the idea of skipping a grade. I knew there had been students that have skipped before me, but I never thought of the idea for myself. The school was hesitant to the idea. My family was fully for it and pushed for it to happen. I found out on step up day that I was going to skip. I was really upset because I went through sixth grade step up day without having any information from the school. When I arrived home, …show more content…
Turner. I am so thankful we have a small class, or else it would be chaos. I generally don’t enjoy his class, but it’s okay OCCASIONALLY. My current spot is in the back by his desk and the door, which is a pretty nice seat. I sit by Drew Turner, Abby Thole, and Cade Chapman. Cade talks A LOT which is so annoying. From my seat, I can hear him CLIPPING HIS NAILS. What the heck!! I find that gross to do in a classroom setting WITH STUDENTS in class. It makes me cringe. On top of the nasty class habits, he isn’t the best at explaining. He’ll just quickly talk about a topic, and if you didn’t understand that, too bad. We worked with integers, geometry, angles, proportions, and probabilities. The easiest to do was integers, but the most enjoyable was …show more content…
Velásquez. This class is so much fun to be in, with an awesome teacher and fun classmates. We write A LOT in L.A. I wrote a persuasive essay about animal testing. We also wrote essays about firefighters and then combined them together with our group. That was a really fun project because the group essay ended up being really cool. Our class also read some awesome books. We read Seedfolks, The Pigman, The Outsiders, and are reading Touching Spirit Bear. I really like Touching Spirit Bear and the themes in the book. To start the class off, we watch CNN Student News. Carl Azuz is the host, and at the end of every show, he throws down some sick puns. Everyone in our class has a kick out of them. As I said before, Mrs. V’s class is so much fun. We play really fun games in there that everyone enjoys. Fun games we play include raw macaroni, murder game, pip squeak wilber, going camping, and the fly swatter vocab game. Mrs. V had an award show called “Spice Awards” where she picked the best parts of someone’s persuasive essay and students voted on it. The award was on a vinyl record. I won best paragraph for my opening. I was so excited. I still have my record today. Mrs. V’s class is so much fun and I’m lucky to be in

My favorite story to discuss was "Ikto Conquers Iya, the Eater". I already thought the story was interesting, but hearing others opinions on the story continued to capture my attention. I was better able to understand the story and why it was written. It seems to be a mythological explanation for the disappearance of people. During class, I learned that 98% of Native Americans died suddenly because of disease.…

Little and her teaching techniques. As a middle schooler I did not think I was learning anything in her class; however, I can now see that I retained a lot of information from Mrs. Little because she constantly had something else we could work on. I also enjoyed helping the sixth-graders answer science questions. I loved watching the students light up the first time they understood something, like the difference between a food web and a food chain. This past week has been extremely busy because they are preparing for ISTEP.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

Do you ever see the way you change and it all seems like it is okay until it isn’t? In the middle of my middle school year of 8th grade, I had met some new friends and started hanging out with them. At lunch we were all just laughing and having a good time and everything in life was going great. We all had been eating our food and talking about sports and trucks and what plans we had coming up that evening. As lunch came to and end we all headed to our classes like a normal everyday routine.…

Who would have thought making the hardest decision can lead to the simplest solution ever. It was the summer of fourth grade I had a surgery that same summer so my mother didn’t want me to worry about anything. Although, I instead that I should start looking for some middle schools to attend in the future. My mother said that was fine but to only look for the best school that I would get the right educations. That Day in Fourth Grade “People come into our lives for a reason, bringing something you must learn, and we are led to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. -Glinda” One of my best friends today, Teonna Frye, has influenced a lot of the choices that have made me into who I am today. I first met her as a “not-so-little,” brown-haired fourth grader. She was a giant that towered over all the kids in our grade.…

At long last I have entered middle school as a 6th grader. The first thing on my mind was to join a sport with my friends. We all easily agreed on basketball, since it was the only one we knew how to play. I somehow ended up showing last for try outs. Who would have known that middle school could be so cruel. Seriously, at that young age I thought that the kids would be sweet as gum drops. I was dead wrong. It was as if it was a crime to not have been a stick figure. It was a crime for to embrace your intellectual side.…

These past three years have been the longest and the shortest of my life. The seemingly endless homework, long term assignments, and Wednesdays that felt more like Mondays made it seem like middle school would never end. Each individual day felt it took forever, but somehow, I feel like three years have been compressed into three weeks. I remember the first thing anyone said to me at Bigelow. “Welcome to Mr. Spiegels homebase, where people jump out from behind windows and hide under recycling bins”.…

I like the idea of writing journals, how students write about their lives on a daily basis and all the troubles that they’d faced at such a young age. My favorite part was when a quiet student had the courage to read the very first journal entry to the class. It was called “I am home”, it was about him and his family was forced to leave the country and vigorously leave their homes. He was a refuge with no home or money and nowhere to go. My least favorite part was when Scott Casey didn’t approve to the doings of Erin Gruwell and how he stated that she’s wasting her time with students that basically have no future.…

For the first five years of elementary school, I attended the small school located at the back of our church’s property. Enrollment ranged from about 10-15 students in 1st through 8th grade. The last three years of my grade school experience were spent attending Lodi Seventh-day Adventist Elementary. This school went from kindergarten to 8th grade and fed into Lodi Academy, so in all, kindergarten through 12th grade! I came from a small, two-room school, and seeing as I was not very accustomed to being with such a large body of students, suddenly becoming immersed in a class with more students than that of my entire old school was definitely intriguing!…
